So I noticed my passenger plate light housing was half full of water after some heavy rains. Upon taking it to the dealer for a warranty fix, they took it upon themselves to give me crap about an aftermarket LED bulb being installed and not being able to warranty it.

I said fine; I'll agree as soon as they can prove that the LED caused it.

Dealer: How do we know you reinstalled the bulb correctly without compromising the seal?

Me: So any time I replace a light bulb, that voids the warranty on that part? If I had put the stock bulbs back, which I had considered before coming in, what would your response have been?

Them: Uuuuuum...let me go speak to the boss.

They ended up covering all of it.

BTW, everything but the high beams (still stock) and low beams (Morimoto HIDs) are LED at this point with zero issues.

I'm actually waiting for my 3rd one. I'm gonna ask them to run the hose on it after they install it.

If mine leaks again, I'm going to make them buy me an armor bumper :)

Bringing this back. But was looking at mine today and it's filled up to the brim with water.
Just thought it was funny, and wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem.
Now I just need to go pick up some goldfish for my fishbowl light.

Looking above, I had mine done in August. I took it in 3 weeks ago for an oil change and showed the deal that they are both full, so they are replacing them again sometime. Cheap crap lol.

There is finally a TSB about this. I got mine done, and now both my lights are dry as a bone even after aggressive douching at car washes.

It's a problem with the wiring harnesses, actually.

The 3rd gens are pretty bad, you always have to check your License Plate Light fluid level...

I'll check mine tomorrow, It has been raining a lot this year.

I'll save you the trouble. You should probz just blame the dealer for overfilling.

Or do what I did.... When I heard you guys were having this issue, I crawled under with a tube of silicone and gooped it all over the wires where they go into the unit that holds the bulb..... NO water in mine.... And NO dealer hassle or waiting in their waiting room while a snotty-nosed ass-wipe messes with MY truck..!!

    I'm happy....

Just tell them you think Toyota parts are crap and you're going to get all your parts from O'Reilly's from now on.

Well I figure if they have muffler bearings and piston return springs, they're bound to have Tag light fluid too.

I believe it can be substituted until the next service, and then must be switched back to the recommended fluid. Or was that for if you can't find 0-20 motor oil o_O
