Just picked up the truck today and the underside looks very nice! They only coat the frame though... They left a few bottles in the truck so Ill look into putting a coat on the rest of the underside.

It comes in the same bottle as oil does. Dont remember what its called. I dont think you can get it inside a box frame (at least it will be difficult).

That may be the only way but I don't like the idea of drilling holes in my frame:eek:

thats the way any rust protection or undercoating place does it(rust check, uniglass ziebart, etc). After they drill the hole they fill it with a plug so no water or shit can get in. thats the way theyll do the doors and wheel wells to.

I remember going in last year to have my frame checked when I first heard about the "extended warrenty" on this forum. They checked it and said everything was fine but they didn't have the coating yet so I needed to come back later. Life happened and I completely forgot about going back. Is this coating the same as if you were to go in and get their regular undercoating?

I got the undercoating a few years ago and if it is the same I'm wondering if they'll reimburse me. Wishful thinking...

i was told that they basically just do the hammer test, tap on the frame with a hammer and if it goes threw anywhere its deemed unsafe and qualifys for the recall

first of all they are not recalls on the tacos frames they are CSP customer support program. 1995.5-2000 the dealer uses the hammer test to check the frame. if we came put a hammer through the frame it has rust perforation and toyota will offer to buy the truck back for up to 150% of KBB suggested retail value. the truck gets crushed after they buy it back. The second CSP is 2001-2004 tacos and the same frame test is used but instead of buy back the will replaced the frame if it is bad. If it is not bad we send the truck out and have a under coat put on the frame. In both cases you have 15 years from first date of use to have it inspected. All trucks can be checked for the rust holes no matter where you live because if you bought it used sometimes you never know where the truck was first.

So is the under coating they put on a paint, or is it more of an oil substance that is known as rustop?
