Towing anemia at 65mph

    I'd like to add, check laws in your area. The speed limit may be 65 MPH, but usually for vehicles towing its 55 MPH. That's why they stick to the right, and rigs go 55 even in 65 zones. A trailer makes emergency maneuvering and braking more difficult, so speed is reduced.

    As someone said, trailers aren't usually made to exceed 65 MPH, because they're really only supposed to be going 55.

    My 2700 lb camper was no problem to tow.
    Trail manor 25-18

    Used to tow it with my 99 2.7 and it did Ok with manual tranny but slow to go. Stopping was fine.

    Pray tell How often are you going to be dragging these poor Caribou around ??

    Are they used to being hauled around ?? You could be looking at some fun times ahead .

    Horses are bad enough even when they are used to being carted around .

    What kinds of Vaccinations are needed and the paper work to show it was done??

    Brake controller, Snugtop, Hellwig981, Gentex, custom frame bending and body removal by red light runner.
    Yep, nobody is. You have to work on it. lol

    I like to start by reading the owner's manual and then anything else I can find on how to tow. Kinda like when you build a model or a desk or take a test the instructions say to read all the way through the instructions before beginning. I generally stick to that way of thinking.

    It is not so much the weight it is the increased Wind resistance .

    Drop the same load down no higher then the middle of the tailgate you will notice a big difference

    Then if your fighting a headwind as well it makes things even worse.

    I notice the decrease in fuel mileage any time the cargo gets above the roof

    As we have said many times, Towing the trailer is not the real danger, Stopping the Truck and Trailer, is more of a danger.

    A trailer that size usually doesn't have brakes; it could; but usually not.

    I have a couple of 6x12 enclosed cargo trailers, no brakes; and road conditions really matter when towing. Towed the trailers a couple of times "empty" in snowing conditions; well just let me say, I bought a Tundra for that.

    Never had a problem pulling, it was always stopping. Yea, road conditions, speed, placement of load in the trailer, was the tongue load heavy enough, a lot of factors come into play.

    You don't want to see the reindeer in a ditch, with the trailer on top of them.

    Most of those trailers have brakes on at least one axle if they work is quite another story .

    Electric trailer brakes can be quite a pain in the butt.If it sits for long periods of time unused like over a Northern Winter

    Since this is a Horse Trailer it would not be impossible to be hauling around $50,000.00 plus in horses

    Welp. I think I broke it. Now when I press the gas it takes a bit for the car to register, almost as if it's in neutral.

    Do you know a reputable tranny shop? Take it there and have them flush it if they think it will help. By reputable I mean that they won't just try to sell a rebuild instead of finding the problem.
