    King of emoticons! !
    Morning.

Well pulled the deck out from mower and trying to decipher manual schematic that was obviously prepared by someone that has no common sense. Also seems there was a flaw with old pulley. Yea it was threaded! Explains why it went flying out. New improved pulley is in a kit now with bolt and nut.

    Hey Navy guys ....
Can some one explain in AF guys terms how does this occur https://www.google.com/amp/www.nbcn...ollides-merchant-ship-southwest-japan-n773521

I really don't get it with both human and electronic systems in place how do you not see another boat of that size ? Someone is going to be answering for the loss of the 7 Navy crew personal . In the AF @MQQSE you were higher in the food chain then I was but this kind of thing the commander of that boat his xo and the top enlisted folk would be on the carpet as Soon as they were able and most likely retired or on a tour of Kansas shortly there after.

Navy guys what say you ? It is a horrible loss of life it just isn't making sense to the wing nut ..

this is crazy that such a thing happens with the world of automation I assume those vessels have, could only think at 2:30am local time it was prob dark out.

really sad news for the families of the unaccounted for..

the company that insured that container ship is in for a world of hurt I bet.

I got a good chuckle reading the "cars you never knew existed" thread over in the general automotive area. I've driven, worked on, or owned a number of those!

See that is my thinking , from what I know of the Navy they have people on watch and I imagine those container ships do too. The Radar etc systems on the Navy ship have to be better then the container or more capable at least as the operators of it should be. As far as I know unless war games or real world those boats aren't running dark. It is not as if this was a 30 footer or something that would not show on radar or visually in the dark. Even if the container was on auto pilot their systems have to be similar to Airplane Auto pilot they will alarm on other air craft proximity / ground proximity etc bitching betty comes on in the head phones so I would guess the boats of that size have similar equipment.

How would they get that close with out one or the other hailing the other on the radio and working out course correction etc . It just doesn't make sense there would have to be catastrophic elctro/mechanical and human malfunctions on both at least in my mind.

Oh and welcome to the 50s lol
