I do this as my main gig and people expect me to do tech-support for them, until I mention charging them for it. Then they want to waste their money and pay Geeksquad to "Fix" their stuff. I then laugh when they come back to me and ask for help, even when they offer to pay.

Flip motorcycles on craigslist. I've had almost 20 of them. Doing it all throughout college.

For the past 30 + years on the side I have fixed Car Buffers and Vacuum cleaners for car Dealerships. It is piece work. More in the summer than in the winter time.

Can't flip vehicles where I live without a dealers licence. This is referred to as curbsiders. I think any more than 2 a year and you need a licence. Problem was people were buying a vehicle, never registering it and selling unsafe and unfit vehicles. No transfer taxes were being paid and if there was any issues you couldn't find the seller because the vehicle was never in their name.

You need to research your local bylaws before doing this.

'Mericua!! Can buy and sell anything to your hearts content as long as it ain't contraband. Doesn't matter how safe the car is.

I work my ass off all week and make good money in construction management, my weekends are precious so no side work for me.

You can sign up to be a driver on UShip and you get to pick/bid on the jobs and so you can really work on your own schedule. I'd look into if they provide insurance or if you'd have to get your own. If so you could start an LLC for really cheap and assign the truck to the LLC so if you do get sued they can't come after your personal possessions or 401k etc.

What do you do for a full time job OP? What do you love to do in your spare time? I love to watch, and play baseball/softball. A few years ago a buddy asked me to help umpire little league. I got hooked, getting paid to watch baseball from the best seat in the house. I average 300 games a year at $40-$50 a game. Pretty good extra cash. Find something you like, and figure out a way to make money from it.

I work as an estimator for flooring installations, but I love working on cars. Especially suspension stuff and fabbing up custom parts. I've never done it for cash though as the liability seems huge.

I was in the last US Navy avionics class that taught vacuum tube technology (as well as solid state) back in 1975. Since I got out in 1981, I've used what I learned to fix guitar and bass amps, mostly tube stuff, cause not many folks know how to repair the older stuff, at least in my area. I fix more recent stuff too but love working on the old tube amps. I used to run my own repair shop full time but no longer. I work a regular 9-5 now and do the repairs on the side. Lots less stress.

Same. My "free time" is like an albino unicorn. I avoid these time consuming sidejobs like the plague. :anonymous:
