Hi all, I've got a (most likely future) project I've been trying to find information on. I have '98 Tacoma Limited 4x4, 3.4L V6. It's currently an automatic, but I've been looking into the possibility of swapping a manual transmission into it. From what I understand, my best option would be to find a donor truck. What years could I use, and what all would I need to do this? I have no interest in trading her in for another, even if I could.
    Thanks for any help
Edit: It also has push button 4wd

Find a donor. It'll save you more than a few headaches. That's what I did. Im still selling parts from the donor at the moment. But by selling pieces left from the donor I've already broken even for the cost of the donor ($3600) and $1200 in storage fees. I still have about $1000 worth of parts left.

Find a 1998 5spd push button. Direct swap over. Ecu + engine & trans/TC wiring harness from donor. Remove or de-pin wiring not needed to the ECU. Clean install. Do yourself a favor and get a EWC for your year.

Alright, thank you! I'll have to start looking around, see what I can find for a donor truck.

Donor truck will be the easiest, ECU is a damn near must. Start shopping now, they can be year specific, and a bitch to track down.

I'm definitely looking out for one. My transmission is fine right now, but I expect it won't last forever
