    2008 Regular cab
My 2008 Tacoma regular cab, 2wd was just totaled! Broadsided by a dump truck! This was on Monday, May 22nd. I had just received title for it on Friday, the 19th! It only had 48k miles on it and had been the best vehicle I've ever owned. I was going to drive it until it died... or I did. I loved that truck. I had never had a single issue with it. That little truck and Toyota's quality engineering saved my life.
I had no idea that this forum existed until I was told to try here to sell the Trac Rac that I managed to remove from it.
Sad day. It's going to be hard to replace.

Sorry to hear of your loss of your '08 regular cab, but it's great that you are here to tell the tale. And to get a cool replacement!

I had an '08 regular cab although mine was a 4x4. I liked it a lot, but in '11 needed something larger and that could haul passengers, so I traded the '08 for an '11 Tundra. The Tundra served me well for 6 years, and I really did need the larger truck for a few years, but starting about 3 years ago my life changed again and I no longer needed the big beast. I heard that they were going to do a 3rd Gen of Tacoma, and was happy when they did. I decided to wait a while for the big demand to abate and supplies to be good, and then I decided to buy.

Tomorrow I'm picking up a '17 TRDOR Inferno DCLB. I like having a 6' bed, and with the double cab it's a fairly long vehicle, but I think the longer wheel base will help with handling on the road, which is where I do the majority of my driving, and give more hauling capacity when I need it. And I just think the long (although it's really just a standard bed, the little 5' beds in most of the DCs are short) bed on a double cab just looks a little better, more balanced. I realize it'll be a little less off-road capable, but I generally try to avoid getting into real knarly stuff.

My '08 was very basic, 4 cyl, manual tranny, no bells or whistles at all, not even cruise control, manual windows. I remember that more than once people (generally young, teenagers) would get in and couldn't figure out how to open a window until I showed them. Times, they are a'changin'.
