Does anyone's own a Taco whose front bumper has major orange peel compared to the rest of the truck? I'm seriously looking at buying a new Taco in the next few months. The silver truck on the lot had a front bumper that was many shades lighter than the rest of the vehicle, which is common with silver but I'd have a hard time accepting. I could not believe how poor quality the front bumper paint was compared to the rest of the vehicle on ALL the dealer's inventory. It literally looked like the front bumpers were painted with a spray can with terrible orange peel. I haven't seen this poor of paint on new car bumpers since buying a new Nissan Maxima.

Some of the problem may be because the bumpers are plastic, the truck body is metal. Plastic adheres to paint differently, and can look off color due to those differences. Also paint batches often differ slightly, and body panels are painted at different stages. When you go to buy, make sure any differences are something you can live with.

I noticed this problem too when I looked at a few new Tacomas back when I was shopping for a 2016. I saw a Barcelona red that looked like it had a Maaco paint job. Also quite a few folks have posted pictures here of mismatching paint across the body. In particular the MGM seems to be a problem color.

Wonders if the new guy knows the texture is by design. The texture on the lower portions is there on purpose.

Really need pics to understand your concern.

Yep, they also add to the paint an additive that allows the paint to flex versus the rest of the truck. All flexible parts are painted separately from the rest, hence a different orange peel.

Yeah,my Brocelona has some front end color issues, but it's only noticeable up close. It's a little orange peely around the lights, but it's a truck so not really a big deal.

There might have been an accident and had to be repainted. I know that when i first started shopping for mine, i found an inferno one and noticed the colors had some paint variations from the left and right side of the truck. They disclosed that it had been repainted due to an accident in their parking lot but didn't report it to insurance because it was in house. the paint job was horrible and luckily i noticed and asked. They were hesitant to tell me.

Understand your point. I should have snapped a photo. I'll do so in the future. It's the body colored plastic piece that surrounds the area taken up by the black foglight housing. Everybody is right, this thread is worthless without a photo!

Not worthless. Somebody might read it and learn something. Several good informative posts here. Give it an hour though and it will go to the crapper like most threads here.

My 2017 Super White has some orange peel on the section below the grill that noticed the first time I washed it

no problems on my MGM and I've gone over it vigorously while detailing. Impressed with the paint on mine.

Didn't even need to wash it. I had my truck facing east and in the sun. Although this pic shows the orange peel texture, this site will compress the pic and lose enough resolution that you probably can't see anything.

Anyway, the color is fine on my truck and the lower bumper lack of smoothness does not bother me.

I always thought this was a result of these being painted plastic sections vs. painted metal. No orange peel on the metal portions of my truck, but it has texture on the portions that are plastic. Not concerning to me.

I have a blazing blue and you can barely tell the difference, not sure a picture would show it but a lot of the times it is the injection mold process, stamping for plastic parts...but agree they should be smooth...
