Like the title says, I'm looking to gtfo of Florida and explore up to NewYork. I'll be looking to camp along the way but don't mind staying in a hotel a night or two if needed. I'll have 14 days to work with. Anybody know any good places to camp along the way? Maybe special places to visit? I want to try and do the trip in January or February, I want to experience a real winter for once haha! And for pictures sake here's my vehicle of choice! Top pic is before my lift and tires.IMG_0109.jpg20170603_122029.jpg

Just curious as to why New York? Nothing against the state or city, but if you are looking to experience winter, my recommendation would be the upper Midwest, especially the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This from a former Florida boy who spent several years in Michigan venturing all over the state, and a couple of years in New York and Pennsylvania, so I am probably biased.

Well I guess it doesn't really have to be NewYork. I'm just using NewYork as reference of the distance I'm willing to travel. I want make the most out of the 14 days I have. Do you recommend anything in Michigan to visit? Places to camp, things to see? Thanks for the input!

Winters up here can be hard on your rig. I'm not referring to the snow, its the salt. If a passing flurry is in the forecast they salt the roads like crazy. Beautiful rig by the way!

How far west do you think I can get with 14 days? I mean google maps can tell me how far nonstop but I wanna camp and site see as well. West is actually what I wanna do but the east coast just seemed a little more doable. But I'm now open to anyplace I can with 14 days lol

Considering I've driven from Miami to Seattle when I moved out here (twice now)... you can make it to the west coast and back, but you have to move every day. This isn't ideal if you want to stop and see stuff. Maybe consider something like Utah or Colorado?

Edit:  from a former Miami native. I sure do miss all the Cuban food. And Los Ranchos, God do I miss me some Churasco. :D

We do have all the churasco and Cuban coffee you can eat and drink here!! But 365 days of 95 degrees or higher temps with 100% humidity sucks so much. Haha!

Yeah, you'd have to drive like 800 miles a day to make that work. But more realistically, you should consider the Blue Ridge mountains as part of your itinerary. Especially in October. You might want to book several campsites for your trip, there's not a lot of public lands on the eastern side of the US.

Edit: Don't know why I didn't notice you did say January or February. I'm sure whatever you choose will be epic. Good luck!

If you're going to drive this far, at least go to states that have mountains like Vermont, Maine or New Hampshire. New York isn't flat, but if you're looking for a winter it's either the Midwest like others have said, or it's New England. Careful driving in snow though. It's not to be taken lightly if you haven't drove in 6" or more before

Depends on what you're looking to do. Up here it's basically skiing/snowboarding, snowmobiling, and ice fishing all winter long for a lot of us. And you can rent pretty much anything up here. I wouldn't write off a visit to NYC, DC, or Boston either.

If you are planning on being in NY state in late July through labor day then a trip to Saratoga spring is a must. The race tract from the 1800s along with the preforming arts center and perhaps the nicest small town that you will see is a must for anyone to visit.

Vermont is stupid nice. I was just up there, its picture perfect everywhere you look. As far as camping check out https://hipcamp.com its like airbnb but more rv and campsite oriented. That said airbnb also has a filter for campgrounds.
