Hello folks. I bought wheels at Discount (@Discount Tire Direct) tire and they lost 5 of my OEM lugs. They replaced the 5 OEM lugs with short lugs (right one in the picture)?

Think I will have any issues during R&I of stock wheels if I ever choose that route? Will my OEM lug wrench be able to mount the short lug?

I was told I have to use the OEM lugs on my spare and to make sure I leave 6 in my truck for that. .

    TIA

Personally I would go to the dealer and get 6 more lug nuts. Are those safe? I think so. Yeah there's less threads holding onto the wheel stud, but if they torqued the wheel down then you aren't in any danger.

I would more or less get new ones for a convenience/style reasons. Having 2 different sizes of lugnuts will get annoying quick for you if you take the wheels off to do anything to the truck.

Yeah the mismatch lugs is messing with me and they ain't even mounted to my truck (sitting in a box). Not sure why all 24 didn't make it back in the box. I should of checked the box before I left. I will see if dealer can get me 5 à la carte.

Yeah that's the other thing....how does a tire shop lose that many lugs. I mean I could understand 1 MAYBE....but my God it's not that hard to put lugs in a box and leave them there lol

As long as the short lug tightens down without bottoming out on the stud they will be perfectly fine.

It looks like the distance from the start of the thread to the spacer is same length. One is just shorter where the lug wrench grips the lug. There is less lug to grip and torque.

If I put OEM wheels back on or the spare I saved the OEM lugs for this application.

I have no idea. I should of checked the box prior to leaving. I did inventory a couple days after install to pick 6 lugs to stay in the car for the spare. Counted up only 19.

I seem to always have bad luck with small things like this.
