Indeed, but all problems I wouldn't have been able to solve without TW. I actually DO believe these are good trucks with not all of the kinks of the new design and production worked out. I enjoy the heck out of driving it when it drives well, but I have had problems and each one that's surfaced so far I've been able to fix myself without a lot of prior knowledge of the truck thanks to the community.

I've moved past the POS stage, acceptance maybe. But the overarching point here is that I had to do a lot of work I shouldn't have to this truck - yes, but at least I had the resources available easily. Hell TW should have cards at the sales window at Toyota dealerships...

LOL Yeah. That's why @tcBob gives out www.TacomaWorld.com stickers to those who ask really, really nicely. That way other Tacoma owners can see the website on our trucks.

TW is what you should be loving. The truck is cool and all, but TW is what makes them awesome. ;)

Heck, Bob should be getting paid by Toyota for helping folks fix all of Toyota's mistakes.

So do we really have to search the forum to find all these fixes? I'm not trying to complain, but mostly speaking for the other 90% of people who haven't seen/read all of those threads.

I seem to be having the same issues, and my car isn't on the Recall list as well. How did you get your CPS replaced without the recall? Did you have to pay to have replaced or did the dealer replace it?

Found the part number on the CPS thread here in the 3rd gen forum along with directions to swap it out. Bought it myself - my dealer would never have replaced it since I'm not on the recall list and my concerns were less "apparent." $100 was primarily for my piece of mind since I was one of the early '17s produced and the recall impacted both 16s and 17s. I was trying to whittle down on any potential reasons for misfires I was recording.

Oddly, I've seen a REDUCTION in occurrence of misfires but they are still present.. Inadvertently what it did do was actually unexpected - increased my MPGs, less lugging - more power per throttle position, and I've been perplexed by rough steering and it seemed hypothetically to be driven by a lack of power making it's way to the power steering pressure somehow. I didn't really ever think much about it, but I did frequently notice my RPMs "floating" 500 rpm up and down even when the truck was warmed up, sitting in idle, w/o A/C running. I chalked it up to the wonky ECU, but once I replaced I don't ever see that happen. Mine wasn't failing, so dealer would have been a waste of time, but I'm damn certain it wasn't functioning well and was likely only a matter of time. I rarely MASH the accelerator and am still (3 days in) recording about a 12-14% MPG increase post CPS (after already getting improvements from MAF clean the week before).

it's an easy swap. may you throw away $100 on something that's not broken? possibly. was I willing to "wait and find out" - NO!

Thanks for the write up! Interesting. I am going to order the part today. Sure I could be wasting $100, but the potential savings are well worth it.

Something is clearly wrong with my car based on MPG averages other people have been writing about.

I agree, this place was very helpful ! I had the bad body mounts in the front with this horrible noise and I knew exactly what it was. I had the howling lower control arms and I knew exactly what it was. The access cab rattle the leaking rear diff the rear U bolts and so on and so on. all these issues that I would've been going nuts over , all came very easy to me with the knowledge from Tacoma world. I'm not saying I'm happy about my truck having these issues but I'm sure happy I knew about them
