Installed that sucker last week. Here's my deal. It is a quality cover. But man, it wasn't cheap. It looks great. It seems sturdy and does the job. I like that you can drive with it all the way back.

My issue is with the leaking. This is well discussed in another thread, just search MX4 and you'll find it. I am not as handy as some other dudes on here and it takes some serious effort to water proof the rails. I have ZERO experience with other cover so I am not sure if this is specific to MX4. I was just bummed that for that much money, I had to spend lots of time and effort water proofing something that should have come that way out of the box.

Not 100% sure I'd recommend based on that tbh.

Firstly, all covers will leak unless you do a good job prepping and sealing around the bed when installing. The design on the plastic bed rail caps on the 3rd gens only makes this worse since there is not a flat surface to seal against. That said, My MX4 has been great, I took my time with some RTV and sealed everything I could when installing and have little to no leakage. The cover is sturdy and well made but it is pricy. I have friends who have had other Bak covers and they hold up well over time. I specifically like the MX4 because I can close the tailgate with the cover down, that's the primary reason I went with an MX4 over a less expensive Bak Industries cover.

I have a MX4 on my access cab. Did all the necessary steps to stop leaks during install and it still has leaks. Other than that, good quality cover. I open and close it 20 times a day.

Love my MX4. The waterproof thing...nowhere is it advertised as being waterproof so to judge it saying it's not waterproof isn't quite fair. I used a bead of RTV on the rails, sealed a few other areas and it's nearly bone dry inside after heavy rains.

I got the F1 because I like that the finish was a gloss finish vs matte. It's an excellent cover that looks really good.

I got the MX4 for security in the bed. I also have a rubber bed mat which keeps things from getting wet. I knew no cover is waterproof and I am very happy with the MX4 as it is serving it's primary purpose of security my stuff.

They can be easily opened with a coat hanger. However for keeping people honest it works. Any determined thief will get in.
