While away on business my wife surprised me with my first truck! 2014 PreRunner TRD Sport DC! Previous owner must have babied it because aside from the bald stock tires it looks brand new. Gonna swap out the wheels for 2017 Tacoma rims and already have some Cooper AT3s on order in the 265/70r17... hopefully I don't get any rubbing. Did a ton of research on here before deciding on those tires. I'm in FL so performance on wet streets is at the top of my list of needs. From what I gather my speedo will true up and my odo will be off by going up to the 70s? I'm brand new to all of this so any advice would be appreciated!

Hello and welcome! If those tires you got are larger than the current ones than both your speedometer and odometer will be slightly off. I personally just ordered 265/75r16s for my taco which are slightly bigger than stock and plan to get it calibrated. I am sure they will not be off by much, but would rather be safe than sorry. Nice looking truck!

Thank you! From what I've read the stock tires have the speedo measuring slightly under actual speed. This didn't really make sense to me but multiple threads had this repeated.

Yes that is true. Since these tires are slightly bigger they have a larger circumference, meaning the tire will spin less to obtain the same amount of distance than a smaller tire. As a result, the speedometer will say you are going slower than you actually are.
