Most of the diesel pumps I have seen have the slightly larger nozzle, the same nozzle that leaded gas pumps had back when you could still get leaded gas.

This exists for a reason. http://www.idparts.com/diesel-fueling-adapter-p-2418.html

    Upon digging further

Some different types of fuel have specially sized of nozzles to prevent accidentally filling a tank with an incompatible fuel. The nozzle on diesel pumps is supposed to be larger so that it cannot fit into the filler pipe on a vehicle tank designed for gasoline. However, the larger diameter diesel nozzles are not an actual requirement, and many diesel pumps at auto islands have been fitted with standard gasoline nozzles.

Where I am, diesel nozzles are usually green and larger. Thought that was a standard :notsure:

That's how it is here. Basically idiot proof.

Anyways, my friend had a brand new BMW X5 and this happened to him. He was driving and all of a sudden, the engine quit and wouldn't turn over. Had it towed to a BMW dealership, fixed in a couple days. No harm to the engine. Gas station did pay for all repairs through insurance.

I'm sure everything will be okay with your Tacoma.
