Me and the family are headed to Elkins, WV on Fathers Day weekend and will be making a pit stop for a few days in Harrisonburg, VA June 21 and leaving sometime on the 24th.

Anyone doing any trail riding or anything fun out that way? New visitor to the area, so ideas of restaurants or places you just have to see will be great. My wife and 2 year old daughter will be with me.

You might want to check out Natural Chimneys between Harrisonburg and Staunton.

Of course there is always Luray Caverns in Luray on I-81, or Grand Caverns in Grottoes on Route 340 between Elkins and Waynesboro.

If you're into hiking, Humpback rocks is about 15 miles south of Waynesboro on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The parkway can be accessed from the top of I-64 or you can pay to use Skyline Drive from Route 33.

Sherando Lake is nearby if you want to go swimming.

A little further south is Crabtree Falls. You can park at the bottom and hike to the top or drive a little further, park at the top and take a leisurely stroll down to the top of the falls.

    * There is a winding dirt and gravel mountain road that you can get to from the parkway really close to where the road from Sherando Lake hits the parkway. This leads to Crabtree parkway and the bottom of the falls.

    Bring back some pics!

Thanks for all the info. So far we have hit my families land in Glenville, WV and alot of fire roads in Monongahela National Forest. Hoping to hit Flagpole and maybe Bald Mountain while in Harrisonburg
