Just checking all before I make a plunge.

46 out of 100. By far the worst rated truck on market by Cunsumer Reports.
    Really??? Why?

    Lowest cunstomer satisfaction rating?

I was shocked to see this.

Maybe it's like golf....the lower the score the better.....?

Loved my 1st gen, love my 2nd gen. No personal experience with 3rd gen, so no comment...

Gotcha. Not sure who has an answer. Was just shocked to see the "bad" report.

A lot of people don't really take Consumer Reports seriously. I am just the opposite though, I take them for gospel. That's really troubling to see this. Hopefully they are trivial issues, rather than significant design flaws. Maybe there is some truth to everyone's complaints after all.

Just read about all the problems and recalls in the 3rd gen section, and you will soon realize why CR is correct.

You are in a very good position, able to research and make a wise decision. So many here jumped into a $40K decision, and lost.

My goodness. What are the problems? I'm about to purchase a 2017.

I'm getting out of an Equinox that has had numerous issues. I love Tacoma, just always wanted one. Never owned one.

    This troubles me.

I have no complaints on mine. I'd buy it again if I had the chance to do it over.

Recalls and problems come with every single brand out there. I assume that the "tacoma" audience is just louder than most. I had a 2010 Ford F150 that had recalls, had a bad torque converter, bad set of leaf springs, bad steering column, and bad oxygen sensors. All changed out under warranty. Did I get on the computer and complain? Hell no because guess what.....it is what it is and they took care of it just like Toyota will do.

According to that, you should look at a Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. :crapstorm:

Consumer Reports has never had anything good to said about the Tacoma. A majority of Toyota's trucks have had bad rides according to the testers there. So truthfully I am not shocked and I would not take much stock into it OP. CR is more for the masses because the are designed to cater to the average customer. Today's "average customer" will never Offroad, tow, or haul heavy loads. But ultimately it's means nothing because you should drive what you like.

CR biggest complaint about the Tacoma 2nd and 3rd gen was that it rides like a truck. Well no shit, if i wanted my truck to ride like a car i would have bought a Ridgeline.

Geeze the peeps that recommend other trucks than Tacoma. Why on this site? Just makes it harder.

Thanks for the advice. Heck, I'm more confused.

Publically accessible forum of enthusiasts. They're the most rabid fans, and the most rabid defectors.

Some trucks are good, some are fine, some are extremely problematic. Where you fall in is unknown until you're in the thick of it and it's in your driveway.

Nobody can really see the future, but it certainly can be said there is a lot of teething issues with the third gen Tacoma, a lot of carryover issues from the 2005-2015 Tacoma, and that you should test drive the actual truck you're intending to purchase for as long as you can, test all driving conditions you can, simulate as much day to day ownership as you can, and if you find something you're not happy with - don't buy it.

Same as any potential new car purchase.

FWIW, people can say bad things about stuff they enjoy and that's okay. I'd rather join a forum and get a realistic appraisal on a topic than have a bunch of replies stroking me off all the way to disappointment.

Like everything, learn as much as you can and take it all with a grain of salt and a skeptic view.
