Did you actually see them take the shocks off the truck? They may had done several Sports and put the shocks in a bin and randomly gave you two (which were both the driver's side). I just checked mine and I have green and red dot. Also If you look up the part number, you will see that the coils are have two different part numbers for the drivers and passenger side.

Also, another option is that the factory may have screwed up and put two driver's side shocks on the truck when it was being built.

Single truck lifted by owner in drive way. So yes directly off the truck. Thru searches I have read that many other years came with identical paint marks. Not sure about the white ring near the top of the strut on the left in the first pic.

If by many other years you mean 2016 then yes. Most spring numbers with the exception of trd pro are carryover from 2016 to my knowledge. But hey isnt like i do car parts for a living:spy:. Maybe we should stick with the theory the factory installed the wrong springs because thats easier than flipping through 25 part numbers

Mine did not have the white ring near the top, just the different color dots. Maybe someone else here on the forum could check their Sports and see which side has the white ring.

2017 fronts going on a 2015 for the purpose of providing 1" of front lift and higher spring rate.

    not removing a lift.

The paint dots are not side specific. All the dots symbolize is top and bottom of the spring so re assembly is correct.

My co-worker has a 2017 TRD Sport and I just looked at his shocks/coil.... they have two red dots (and light blue under). No white tag either.

It looks like people have: both green, both red, and red/green dots on their truck.

So I guess it pretty safe to say that we can't use the dots to reference the driver's and passenger's side.

Any part numbers etched into the coil or strut body? So we can maybe tell you which goes where by the two different part numbers?

Looks like they are the same part number for both sides, so not side-specific:

You are correct! Got the vin off the truck they came from, called the dealer and they confirmed that they were the same part number! On a side note, I was told that my 2015 sb manual struts were side specific! Thanks for all the input and help. Truly an awesome community.
