Morning all, I am new here obvisouly, I seen somewhere the plans for doing a simple two piece platform for the bed in a short bed. I have an 2015 DCB with short bed...looking for measurements for the boards i need to cut. I had a DECKED system in my old F-150 and I want to build a platform and use the Walmart boxes that slide out underneath for storage. I am still undecided about cap vs tonneau...lol

Thanks for the help in advance and look forward to sharing ideas and tips on here.

I was recently PMing with a person who has made a successful bed platform for his truck. Below you will find his instructions that he gave me. I have a long bed so.my #'s will be different. I measured my bed last night. Once you realize the i.portant #'s to get, it's pretty easy.

If I remember correctly, I measured the width of the bed at 4 spots:
    • Front of bed (towards cab)
    • Back of bed (before taper)
    • Back of taper
    • Bed opening
Then measured the lengths I needed for each of those segments:
    • Main Bed
    • Bed Taper
    • Bed Tailgate
From there I cut the 4x8's to half of the width measurements.
The center of the platform, where the two halves meet, are the original edges of the 4x8's. All cuts done to the boards were done on the outside edges of the platform. This ensures that the two halves of the platform meet up flush to each other.
Installing the carpet on the boards made for a very snug fit in the bed... which I liked very much.
