I have a 1998 4x4 with 2.5" SAW's and 650lb coils. I'm experiencing slight cupping issues on my tires and too stiff of a ride with the current spring rate. I upped the spring rate from the original 600lb spring in a trade for some heavier coils, with the thought of less preload on my shocks.
Now I'm wondering if I could run a 550lb spring and re-valve the shocks for a smoother ride. Any thoughts? It's too stiff of a ride currently, both on and off road.
    Thanks

Why not run the 600 again.

I don't have the 600's anymore. I was still experiencing the cupping issues. Is there a risk of going too soft by reducing the spring rate to 550? I'm looking for a softer ride.

I would say that 550 is too soft but if you know 600 is stiffer than you want it wouldn't hurt to try. If you have suspension lift on the stock system you will always have some cupping. I think there are some upper arms that help with getting alignment back to stock but just from an engineering standpoint performance will suffer with most suspension lifts.

    3” lift. Sway a ways 2.5 on 285 75 16 and much more
You could get a winch bumper. Extra weight will help with a smoother ride. and will give you a good excuse for more parts lol

I have 650s on my 2.0s and they are rough for the 4cyl. I am planning on swapping them to 550s at some point. The stock springs for the tacoma are lighter than that.
