2017 PRO downside to extended travel fox coilovers?

Time to upset the masses. Someone is changing out the suspension on their PRO

Going to be running this setup on a 2017 PRO. I am going to be lifting the front about 1.5 inches. From my understanding if I run the fox 2.5 C/O non extended travel they will be maxed out as the Pro already has an inch lift over a stock Off Road. And to raise it an additional 1.5 inches would be maxing the coil overs at 2.5 inches. Would there be a downside at this point running the extended travel? I already have U/C arms on order.

The 2.5 doesn't stand for 2.5" lift. It means 2.5" diameter of the shock body. The fox C/O are threaded so you can adjust them to whatever height you like up to a certain pre-load maximum. From what other people have said from measuring, the Pro actually has no lift over a stock OR. It probably has more droop, but ride height is the same.

The only downside to the extended travel is that you will need the UCAs (which you're getting already). Someone correct me if I'm wrong but extended travel C/O don't provide any more lift than the regular ones, but just offer 1 more inch of droop.

 

If I am reading it right, the non extended C/O can provide up to 2" of lift per Fox's website. And the extended provide up to 3" of lift, but have more available down travel.

 

Our 3rd gens have 1" lift over 2nd gens, so they will provide 1" less than what is listed.

From Headstrong's website:

FOX 2.5 Factory Coilovers (880-02-361 or 883-02-025) - Preset for 2” lift (for 2016 models 1" lift)

If I was doing it, I would replace with the extended travel to obtain the 2" lift rather than 1" with regular travel to go through the work of buying/installing new shocks since you already have the UCAs enroute.

Granted, all depends what you're trying to do whether for looks, crawling, etc.

It would help if someone with those fox coilovers chimes in; I was going to go with foxes at first but ultimately went with icons instead.

 

Thanks. I just didn't want to get the non extended and have them max'd out just to achieve an inch of lift and have a crappy ride.

After talking it through with Camburg and reading a bit more, albeit on 2nd gen trucks, the extended will be the way to go.

 

So. You know. Whatcha gonna do with them oem fox's?

I would like Them to just sorta "become" mine.

 

They will end up in the market place....or some monies will just sorta become mine and they can become yours...
