Eh have fun. I had to replace one in a '98 T4R after someone tried to steal it. They busted that cylinder wide open so I had to replace that entire assembly you have shown. It's a huge PITA as the bolts that mount it to the steering column are smooth. You need a pick and hammer to get them out, or dremel a flat head slit in them (that what I did, worked great).

Anyway, I just googled "1998 4runner ignition" and found one right away for $150. Called them to ensure it was the right model.

If it's starting that's an issue, you may be able to replace just the little white controller in the back that plugs into the assembly. The medal housing simply holds the lock cylinder, then turns the ignition on the white box.

I'd recommend googling it then. Tons of junkyards sell replacements. Pretty simple once you get going.

I replaced a ton of those while working at Lexus. I've always called it an ignition bracket and I think Toyota does also.

Some came out easy and others were a PITA.
