do it in grass/dirt/gravel/snow instead and see. You'll thank everyone later and keep from getting these awesome responses on the next thread when your truck is in the shop. It can engage on pavement, don't get me wrong, but you'll bind something and that's probably why your experiencing this. Then again, this is the internet and everyone is always right so I'm sure someone will quote me saying I'm 100% wrong because of X Y Z instead but eh, oh well. Good luck with it and keep us posted

Isn't it the one to the left that says something like 400w, that's something like 4.00 wheels right?

NEVER, NEVER under any circumstances shift into 4X4 on any surface where traction is good. That includes wet or dry pavement and even off road if traction is good.

To shift into 4hi while the vehicle is moving. Simply move the switch. Do the same to get it out of 4X4. It is best to go to 4hi before attempting to go to 4lo. Once in 4hi stop the truck, shift to neutral or park and move the switch to 4lo. When you put it back in gear it may take a couple of seconds.

Getting out of 4lo can be tricky. Stop, go to neutral or park and shift to 4hi. If it doesn't shift out of low range place truck in reverse and back up 10-15' and try again. Repeat until it goes to 4 hi. It may take several tries. Once in 4hi start driving then shift to 2hi.

Then you were looking at the owners manual if you found that switch. That is where they hide the instructions for the 4x4. There are complete chapters about what to do and what not to do. There is lots of hidden info and tips there. Even has some Pictures.
