Thanks for the Welcoming. I'm glad for you that you don't.
Unfortunately, the truck was bought up in Massachusetts and it lived up there for 7-8 years before I got hold of it.

The good news about rust is that it can all be repaired. It's a pain, for sure, but if you take your time, and work skillfully even the worst problem can be repaired. You may choose not to do it for any number of reasons, but it's metal, and a good mig welder and some new panels, patches, and parts can fix it.

Note to self....don't go North. Also, are you getting the frame replaced under warranty?

Shouldn't this be covered in the frame replacement lawsuit?

That is pretty nasty. I lived in New England/Cape Cod for 45 years, been here (NE Florida) for 25. My '09 DCSB (140k miles) has been here since new and looks like this on the underside:

    Well you get the gist...

You should qualify for frame replacement once Toyota starts obeying the court order...

There is NO way that frame is economically salvageable. No flipping way. Yeah, ANYTHING can be fixed with enough time and money...but we arent talking about a 63 split window Corvette here...Fixing that frame will cost more than replacing it.

Absolutely--but if the OP qualifies as a class member in the recently settled Brian Warner et al v. Toyota USA suit--paying for it will be on "Toyota's dime". And you can bet that as we "speak" they have an army of accountants working on how to best expense and amortise the cost of the frame replacement program agreed to in the settlement; so as to minimise its impact on the bottom line...

What years does the frame replacement apply to?

The recently settled Brian Warner et al v. Toyota USA class action suit applies to 2005 through 2010 Tacomas.

Yes I'm waiting on the go ahead to bring my truck in. I've contacted everyone I can about the settlement and they've all said, 'we have your info on file and will contact you'...
    We'll see.

Holy shit man. I would be afraid to wheel that thing until it was a little more reinforced/repaired frame. I couldn't imagine if my truck just broke in half on a trail.

    I would hope I fall under their '10mm' perforation..Lol.
I've never lived up north so wasn't familiar with rust but good lord, I am now.

I was preparing to find another frame and swap out myself but guess I lucked out with Toyota/Dana.
Your frame is SO CLEAN. Appeals and litigation, or whatever, can't get over with soon enough

It's been like that for year and a half now. Last year I put 38,000 miles on it. All over east coast, north-south.
It definitely takes a toll on my nerves, wondering if the next pothole is gonna send me in the ditch or not.
Honestly, this truck rarely sees a dirt road just for the sake of that frame.

Oh ok cool, just checking out the pics made me cringe a little as your condition is quite significant. With the size of those holes, I hope that Toyota makes you priority to get done.
