Just so guys are aware...halogen projectors and HID projectors are different. On all the aftermarket ebay options I have seen, they all recommend the stock bulbs. For a Tacoma, this is code for they use a halogen projector. I have a set of VIPmotoZ (spyder)headlights in my 2012 and they had halogen projectors. It was harder at night to see with those over stock halogen housing as the projector output is not very strong and compared to a halogen with the mirrored background, I believe generates considerable output compared to the halogen projector.

So if you are looking to stay with halogens, then I wouldn't bother messing with a projector as to me there is little to no gain IMO for the price of a new headlight. Now, if you want to convert to HIDs then you might as well look into retros as to my belief, there is no aftermarket light that comes with HID projectors out of the box.

This is a video of the drivers side being an HID projector and the passengers side being a halogen projector.

This is a good discussion of this topic.

Is everyone still happy with their headlights? I did a retrofit a couple of years ago and i think i may want to change it up with a set of these. Do you guys think they would stand up to my 50W ballast?

why would you downgrade to these? why wouldn't you retrofit again? Not worth the labor?

Looks pretty decent to me. Are you liking them so far? Is it worth the upgrade from stock headlights?

Yeah I'm happy so far. Stock lights were fading so I took a shot at these.

I just installed these on my 2014 Tacoma. I love them, but I was hoping someone else was able to figure out how to get the U-light to turn on as DRLs. Installed out of the box, the U-light only comes on when the headlights are on low/high beam. I haven't looked too much into it, but just hoping to get some advice.
