    Hey all TW folks!
Has anyone installed themselves an aftermarket motion sensor in their 3rd gen Tacos? If so, what trigger did you tap it to? Just was wondering. I am thinking that as long as the sensor just creates a short to ground, then you could use the Hood trigger wire with a diode as the trigger for the factory alarm. Its much cheaper then the VIP RS3200 alternative, since basically thats all it is with a mic for glass breakage, if I am correct.

Does breaking the side windows trigger the stock taco alarm? I've been wondering lately. I've seen on tv that "smash and grabs" can happen quickly. The local thugs around here use a metal spike that they tap the glass with and it all happens rather quickly and doesn't seem to rock or otherwise move the car they break into.

Not with the stock alarm. You would have had to add the additional glass breakage sensor as a dealer installed item, you can tell if you have the VIP mic installed on the left side, blank panel of the steering wheel by the cargo light switch, if you dont have that, then it is not installed. You can pick up the RS3200 add on for like $200, but I am thinking you may need access to a techstream to activate it. That is why I am looking for a aftermarket solution that would cost less then $20 and basically do the same thing.

This is good to know. I'll check my truck but I have an SR5 with the non-upgraded (regular) tech package. I forget right off hand what the package is called but it's the mid tier one.

    Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if there is another AUX trigger for the factory alarm or do I need to tap into the Hood trigger?
