Anybody try anything like this before. Way cheaper than a fridge.

To cool the inside of the cooler it will heat up the space it's sitting in, and vice versa for heating the inside when you switch the cable. Terribly poor design and horribly inefficient.

If you are on a budget just call around and get some dry ice for your cooler.

 

That is how all refrigerators work.

 

Weird, all the ones I've ever seen and owned used a compressor. Thermoelectric coolers use the peltier effect.

until I can afford dual battery and an ARB fridge I've been using a similar electric cooler and have beat the shit out of it for at least 3 years. Not EAF, but it's works good enough for now. I'm usually not in deadly heat in my area though. Only moving part is the fan.

I feel like if you run something like that with some ice packs in it, it would last more than enough time.

 

I add some frozen gel packs to help it out. If it's the summer I might even lug around a marine battery in one of those battery boxes to plug in the cooler when I'm not driving. Has worked good enough for the type of girls I date. lol

 

frozen gel packs in a yeti/rtic work quite well as well. I use a big one at the bottom and its almost always still frozen on the 3rd day.

 

Couldn't agree more.. I customized mine to the size of my bed mat so I don't have any wasted space.

You can also make your own Gel ice packs if you want.

1)Mix 1 part alcohol to 2 parts water. (1cup alcohol: 2cups water) Add some food coloring so that it is not mistaken for any thing else.
2)Pour mix into a freezer bag, squeeze out as much air as you can, seal bag and lay flat in freezer until frozen.
*3)Extra step if you want to keep them for multiple use. This is only cost effective if you have a vacuum sealer already. Once mixture is gelled open bag and empty contents into a vacuum seal bag. Then use your vacuum sealer to close bag.

 

Same. And I will until somebody gives me a fridge for the same price as a cooler lol

 

Gotta have ice for the whiskey.
