Tailgate lock-Hinge safety hasp

    Wanted to lock the tailgate, but didn't want to spend $70+ on a pop and lock handle. Found this on an F150 site. Needed a bit of modification, not much to screw into on the taco tailgate, but it works great. Costs all of $8 for the hasp if you have a lock.

    Ever seen something awsome that you never thought of but seems obvious in it's execution, the kind of thing that makes you kind of say. Oh... well, duh...

    This is one of those things.

    I really like the idea, just as secure as any handle lock and a lot cheaper and easily removed. Probably more reliable too. I'll probably do it this weekend, going to paint it black and see about welding some thin gauge steel in there, wood won't last I don't think. Plus then I can drill and tap or install riv-nuts and use stainless bolts. Would also be able to use the D ring as a tie down point if I beef up the tailgate enough. Which I want to do anyway as my motorcycle bows the gate a little.
