Makes sense to me, I'd do it just to be safe.

This is a great thread, bookmarked for sure. Thanks OP for the write up!! Just got my supercharged Taco a couple months ago, only 28k miles on it right now but I will be referencing this for sure when the time comes.

I wish I had. My nose cone bearings seized and snapped the belt about two months back. Had to limp the truck home with no alternator or blower. If you have a press, it's easy to do. Highly recommended.

Sent my S/C off for a rebuild recently, figure new gaskets and seals as well.....if you are looking for those replacement part numbers...

    From Magnuson Products (supercharger)
Part# 80-59-10-500 is for the O-Ring seal that sits in the groove of the charge/inter cooler and the main S/C body.

Part# 90-72-00-005 is for a replacement foam seal that attaches to the charge/inter cooler

    From Toyota Parts
Part# 17176-0P030 is for the Plenum gasket (off stock intake)

Part# 22271-0P010 is for the Throttle body gasket (off stock intake)

Of course, double check but that should get you what you need. I have a 2012 but this should be same for 05-13ish years that the 2nd gen S/C fits on the 1GR-FE

Damn I haven't heard of that happening before, how many miles did your supercharger have on it when this happened? Any warning signs, like loud rattling?

What's the maintenance schedule on these superchargers? I just picked up a '14 tacoma with a trd supercharger (45k miles on the truck, had the supercharger since 400 miles). I have a book of receipts from the previous owner, gonna go through and check what has been done.

Great info, yup TRD says change oil every 100,000 miles, I changed my after 35,000 from a rebuilt
and the oil it black as hell with black debris in the nose cone. I'm thinking every 25,000 miles the supercharger should have its oil changed, if the oil is this dirty at 35,000 it's no wonder the bears go out at 100,000,
BTW you don't have to remove the supercharger from the engine to remove the snout on the grey units of you do an oil change, just take the snout bolts off and get a plastic bag and wrap it around the snout when you open it up.
You have to remove bolts to the timing belt to do this, all except the one by the streeing pump and just pull back the cover a little to get to the nose bolts.
I now installed a butt screw on the top of the nose snout so I can change the oil in 5 minutes in 25,000 miles.
All cleaned up with carb cleaner

I change the oil in mine every 20k or so as well, and it's pretty raunchy when I do. Can't imagine going 100k.

The first time I went to change it after getting my truck, it was nearly bone dry  Don't think the previous owner ever went through the trouble, even though it's super easy to do on the black TRD s/c. Got lucky that I caught it when I did

Yea, maybe 20,000 is a better number, with the new butt screw installed it will only take 5 minutes from now on, do you use synthetic or the GM supercharger oil?

The GM stuff, it's all I can find out here in CA. For some reason it's illegal to ship supercharger oil to CA, some dumb law prevents it. I did find it available on eBay though so I'll try that next time.
