Heh...I think that may be gone over most people's heads.

Just got back from Wally World. Saw two Tesla X's in the parking lot with temp tags from one state over. Tags were issued four days ago. Either they have decent range or it took them four days to go 500 miles.

Tesla is fully electric and requires you to stop every 100 miles or so and plug in to charge it. Charging is not fast.

Let me say this more slowly, then

A key mod is an accessory for an AR-15 that allows for the attachment of many accessories, such as scopes, flash lights, laser sites, etc.

Wall World is common vernacular for Wall Mart, a retailer based out of Hot Springs, Arkansas. A Tesla X is a car sold by Tesla, Inc., for which pricing starts at over $80,000 and is propelled entirely by battery, requiring a recharge time of several hours. I was surprised that someone would drive, not just one, but two across the desert southwest, which in known for its lack of recharging infrastructure, in the middle of a heatwave.

Did that clear things up a bit?

Thank you for clearing that up. I knew the definitions of the words you spoke I just didn't understand what the significance of it was.

My boss drives a tesla. It goes about 300 miles from full charge. Half charge takes ~20 minutes.

Maybe they came on a truck?

Could be that the new owners took delivery in that other state, thus that state's temp tag, and they're waiting on plates in their home state. Lots of Tesla owners in Austin that buy their cars in California and have them shipped because dealership monopolies are trying to keep them out (and failing).

Actually, the Model 3 starts at $35K (not trying to be pedantic), they haven't delivered any to the general public as of yet and they're sold out until the end of 2018 due to pre-orders.

I do hope this technology takes off, but when we look for a new car for MsWalla in the next couple of years, we'll be looking at gasoline powered. Too many places in the western US that make it impractical for a trip car to be electric. At least for now.

They're making hydrogen powered ones aren't they?

I know they have diesel out of state.

I know most of you have heard about this happening before just like I have, BUT it just happened to me! I've fabricated many things out of metal in my life, at work, in my shop and at the farm. Cutting thousands of pieces of metal with a chop saw or a cut off wheel in an angle grinder. But today I had the first one ever fly apart. I was making a straight cut in 1/4 inch plate, so it wasn't in a bind that caused it. If my head would have been an inch more to the right it could have been bad. One chunk about 2" long went by my ear about at the speed of sound! So BEWARE!

I've seen that happen before too, it's scary as shit. Always a good idea to wear face shield even when cutting small pieces. Glad you dodged that one tho!

Egad! Thanks for the tip. Just bought a Porter Cable angle grinder because tools. Need to know what to do - and, more importantly, what NOT to do!
