    Hello Folks,

For a 2015 DCSB 4.0 SR5 4X4 to get a 2" lift up front which is the best option to go with? Looking for overall ride and off-road performance. Mostly on-road driving and when I go off the pavement it's mud, hills, and trails. No rock crawling. No steel bumpers or any other added weight except for sliders.

For the rear I will add a 3-Leaf-AAL to the OEM 3/1 Leaf pack & I will leave the overload in so that accounts for 2"'s of rear lift. I'll go with 5160's or extended 5100's and a brake line bracket to extend the brake lines like on my '08 Prerunner.

    Option 1:
5100's set at 1.75 and maybe a 1/4" top plate spacer.

    Option 2:
5100's with 2.5" Eibach springs which "may" settle to 2"'s of lift.

    Option 3:
5100's with 1.6" Eibach springs and 1/4" top plate spacer.

    Option 4:
5100's (Toytec adjustable coil overs) which I can adjust myself with a spanner wrench but seems to be a pain to do. I could be wrong on this.

    Option 5:
6112's at the 3rd setting which gives 1.6"'s of lift and add a 1/4" top plate spacer.

As far as suspension travel logic dictates that going with taller springs will give more travel.

Some people say it's bad to compress your springs for lift because of ride stiffnes but doesn't every adjustable coil-over do just that?

There are so many choices it is hard to choose.

On my wifes 4Runner Trail I just went with 5100's all around and fronts at 1.75. Rides excellent on and off road and alignment was perfect so no after market UCA's needed. Of course the 4Runner weighs more than the Tacoma so that may make it ride better as well.

Please let me know of your personal experiences with either of these set ups.

    Thanks

I ran 5100s with a wheelers T1 coil which gave it overall about two inches of lift! It was a great ride for the cost, very effective. I'd say this would be just about your best bang for buck. Don't mess with spacers when you can just order a bigger coil for your 5100s and be higher, or stiffer/softer basically whatever you want. As for the rear you'll be happy with 5160s and an AAL I suspect or for an even simpler lift with better performance you could do a shackle flip and extended shackle, and a 10" travel shock to account for additional travel with shackle flip instead. Shackle flip will run you 150 and chromoly shackle with grease zerk is like 120, then you just need a shock. Should be cheaper to install than an AAL since you don't have to pull the leaf springs anymore.

NICE! I didn't even know about those! That looks like it will give me the lift I want and give a good ride compared to compressing the OEM coils.

As for shackle flip, I don't think you can do that on 2nd Gens but I could be wrong.

    Thank you!

@TAC1 I got you man!

http://www.4xinnovations.com/2005--2015-Tacoma-Universal-Shackle-Flip-Kit_p_38.html Thats the shackle flip I was talking about its actually 200 but still not too expensive, and they also make a strong, greasable shackle which comes with a poly bushing too!
And yeah, I think you would like the Wheeler's T1 with the 5100s more than other options that are out there, im pretty sure they chose that coil with the 5100s in mind or if not its a near perfect match anyway!

@stevotivo12 . Thank you SO MUCH MAN! That shackle flip looks bad ass. I've been reading different posts & threads for a while (I don't want to just post a question that may have already been answered) & I wasn't aware of those springs or that shackle flip kit.

    Thanks & Thanks!

Of course! Glad I could help man, and good luck with your build and finding the parts!
