When mine died. I stood on the throttle in park for about 2 min and I had maximum power. It only went into limp mode when it was cold. If you stand on the throttle for a few min before setting off it won't go into limp mode.

If you change the valves out. The two studs on the top will unscrew from the block and make it very easy to install the new one.

I decided to try and get ahead of this and installed the HT kit before I started getting codes. Install wasn't too bad and the directions are more detailed than I thought, which was nice. The truck still starts and I have a little piece of mind now knowing I'm not driving a ticking time bomb.

No computer updates to solve the issue yet, I would for sure go with those Tundra valves as the cost is much cheaper and seems to be working just as well. Also don't forgot to call Toyota and file complaint, it wont get you anywhere and they will just blow you off but the hope is that Toyota may someday take care of this issue for the many who have had this failure. Good Luck!

Ok, but the Tundra valves are plug and play aside from some minor sizing differences outlined in the previous post?

I have the same issue showing the same codes. I took the one valve assembly off closest to the fire wall just by taking the four torx bolts off of the unit. I saw that the rubber gasket on the valve was destroyed. I pulled the valve up by using needle nose vice grips grabbing from the center and removed the damaged gasket leaving the gasket on the bottom of the valve in place and pushed the valve back down. I blew through the opening to check and see if air ran through and it did not. I put it back together and tried to clear the code but a circuit trouble still showed in that bank but my check engine light and traction control light were off. I test drove it and I no longer had the low speed issue. This is only a bandaid as I know I'll need to replace the valve and probably damaged the valve by forcing it up and down so I am not stating this as a permanent fix but only one that worked for me so far. Good luck!

This morning I went ahead and replced my bad valves with the doorman 911-643 valves from a Tundra. $200 from Rock Auto delivered. This is actually an easier install that buying a set of Tacoma valves as you leave the rest of the assembly in place and only have to take out 8 t25 screws and a couple hose clamps.

I've put about 100 miles on the truck today and everything is just fine.

So you just replaced the 2 valves and not the whole assembly. Do you have any pics.

No pics. The valves are held onto the cast body with 4 t25 screws each. Pop the screws off, and swap them out. The hardest part is that you need to open up the wording harness slightly to get a little more slack on the valve closest to the firewall because the tundra connector comes out at a different angle.

Another member posted pictures of using the Tundra valves on page 36. Link to that post is here:

The one thing to note on the pictures shown on page 36 is that you do not need to remove the bottom assembly from the engine. Just pull the two valves and swap them.

Can someone explain the issue with the wiring on the tundra / doorman valves? I get that it comes out at the wrong angle but what is involved exactly in correcting this to work with the tacoma? I couldnt see it in the photos.

I have not checked yet , but I think it's just changing how the wire is fastened along the engine to give a little more room to connect to the valve
