Out in NNJ with a couple jeeps and of course my 4x4 doesn't work right when I hit the trail. The light doesn't come on but I'm not hearing any weird noises or anything. I went through the first part of the trail a bit too quickly but not enough to blow anything up. The shifter is mechanical though isn't it? So it should shift into 4x4 even if the light doesn't come on? Or is it an actuator? Kinda embarrassing one of the first problems I've ever had on the trail is among a bunch of jeeptards lol

Yours a j shift or push button? J shift should be mechanical, push button has a button on the shifter and only forces to go in 4wd in low range. If no lights coming on I feel like it's electrical in the 4wd controller. @alee891 when your actuator went out did the light come on or no?

It's a j shift one of the jeep guys said it could be a fork or something. I think if I shift into low it'll go in low for the rear but not the front too, whatever it is I'm hoping it's not expensive but it probably will be...

Sounds like an actuator. Not expensive or difficult.

If you're able to go low in the rear and not the front, your front actuator is out. This happened to me last year at Rock Therapy, except my front was stuck locked. Actuators are ~$200, takes a bit of finagling to get out but not terrible.

Bryan- just build a plywood ramp and put carpeting. Lot cheaper than your link. You can build it to the correct angle. And you should be able to stow it nicely in your truck.

Come to the house. We can build it. I have every woodworking tool imaginable.

I just lift them in and out. My dogs don't ride along as much as Kira though. Guess that'd get old.

    You're buff.

For some inexplicable reason, Bryan hasn't muscled up all year from stacking rocks.
