Haha, either way. 20 mpg for a half a tank trip isn't bad for a lift and tires.

407.7 miles/18.238 gal= 22.35 mpg. Hauled a 300lb load of scrap iron around for about 200 miles of this tank. Mostly curvy roads and in town driving 35-60 mph.20170624_093408.jpg 20170624_093005.jpg

I feel really lucky. I calculate my MPG with an app. I don't rely on the taco computer. I drive mostly on paved roads and much freeway. Speeds 55-60-65. I have a little over 2000 miles on my truck and I get a little over 22 MPG -- 22.2 to be exact. I like it. My Sport is a 4X4 btw.

I did a partial tank fill today to take advantage of cheap gas and it proved to me why I think those pics of the dash with high mileage numbers on short trips are not accurate. 72.1 miles and 3.0 gals for 24mpg.

My truck consistently gets 22 ish mpg since its been warm. I have no doubt the next full tank fill will be 22 ish mpg.

well I did the math after fill up and it was real close to the Trucks comp 451.3 miles and filled up 18.1 Gallons
= 24.93 MPG from Phoenix AZ to EL Passo Texas cruse set at 74 mph and on the way home today set Cruse set at
70 mph the comp is telling me 26.8 I think once I do the math it will be closer to 25.? to 26 MPG FullSizeRender.jpg

It is interesting the variations... I have gotten as high as 34 mpg on my commute. I can average 24-27+. What I find interesting is as long as I keep my RPM's between 1,200 and 1,500 I can easily get 25 + MPG in my area. When I set it on cruise towing or without a trailer it severely eats into my mpg. With Cruise on and small hills I am lucking to get 21.5 MPG. Probably would average close to upper teens to 20 mpg.

I'm fairly certain they do. This is after all a thread about MPG on an enthusiast forum. Think about who ends up here. The chances of them being one of those people that play the MPG game are high. I also average 17 mpg fwiw and do not at all play the mpg game.

Now here is the return trip taking the 405 in heavy traffic (2Hrs)with A/C on the whole way. Averaged 30 MPH, opposed to the 70 MPH I averaged getting there. Last time I took the 210. Only took 1 hr. So I averaged 23 MPG and change.

When I got the 34+ MPG on the one commute I was taking it easy on the pedal and not using the brake, nor riding someone's butt. If I watch the pedal closely I can easily get 28+ on the way in or back to work. On a normal drive in am getting 24+. When I do highway driving with long rolling hills I at say 80 mph I am getting closer to 22 +/-. The MPG on paper does not seem to be huge compared to my old Gen 2 with the 4.0. However in real world scenarios it is light years ahead in MPG. Best case scenario in the Gen 2 with TRD OR 2WD w/ Rear Locker was 22 mpg vs steady 28+ under same scenario and my new TRD OR is 4WD.

That said I do like the older 4.0 and transmission for towing. But then again I tow less than 5% of my miles? Overall, if I am driving the truck 300K miles from now like my Gen 2 with really no mechanical issues than a U-joint and coil pack than I'll call it better than the Gen 2. Time will tell...

You are claiming 550+ miles per tank. I challenge you to fill, reset your trip meter and drive that far. Report back your results.

Steve, didn't set the trip odometer... When I not the max between the two trucks it is on my commute trying to maximize the MPG in both. Here is the last fill up at 26.1 MPG average mostly commuting, not open hwy miles. Puts it right over 550 if you do the math. I assume the computer is accurate. 1/16 of a tank or so, light hadn't come on yet.

Photos of a couple of the better commutes I have had, 24-26 miles depending upon the route (in to work or to home no distinguishable difference in MPG). I'll hit my odometer and see if it is accurate to the computer next time I gas up.
