50 degrees from an a/c vent is pretty good in my opinion. Don't really see anything wrong with that. I will say this, if you start messing with the a/c system, it may cause more damage if nothing was wrong with it in the first place. It's really designed to never be touched unless a leak occurs. It only needs to be charge if it's leaking. The refrigerant doesn't just disappear.

I got the A/C in my truck recharged today!

    Hooked up...

My mechanic could tell right away that the A/C in my Tacoma was low on refrigerant...

    Low side...

Temperature at inner left vent getting steadily colder with about a pound of refrigerant added...

    Temperature at far right vent...

More to come! My truck is currently still at the shop having the system pressure-tested.

UPDATE (THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN FIXED/REPLACED):

    1. Air-conditioner has been fixed. It just needed a recharge. My mechanic put the refrigerant in a vacuum, pressure-tested the system, and was unable to find a leak (or at least one big enough to show up). He determined that the fittings/seals expanded and shrunk with the seasons as the temperature changed, and the refrigerant just leaked out over time. Combine that with the fact that many Tacoma owners have reported their trucks coming from the factory undercharged, and it's inevitable. My mechanic charged the system with R134a and balanced it, and now my A/C is blowing 38°F-45°F at the vents (depending on outside temperature, whether or not I have the recirc on, whether I'm driving or at idle, and a couple of other factors).
    2. Steering column casing pieces arrived at dealer today and I installed them myself. Installation was a total and complete success!

THINGS THAT STILL NEED TO BE FIXED/REPLACED:

    1. Left mirror (Part picked up from dealer today; My neighbor and I will install it in the next few days).
    2. Spare tire (Not a top priority right now; I've gone this long without one).
    3. Bent radio antenna (Gonna order a "stubby" antenna online; Should be harder if not impossible for a drunk douchebag to bend this one).
    4. Tear in seat (Like the spare tire; Not a top priority at this time)
    5. Rear slider lock (Another TW member suggested Gorilla Glue; Had dad buy some at Home Depot; Will glue broken piece at earliest convenience).

Spotted this one at Rice's Market on June 20th, 2017. It's a 2014 base 4x4 with the 4.0L and 5-speed automatic. I got to talking with the older guy who owned it and it turns out his biggest grievance with his truck is the lack of intermittent wipers. I told him how easy it is to install them and he thanked me profusely. There's a picture of my truck and his truck together on the "When two Tacomas park next to each other" thread.

Some good ones here, thanks for the laughs! Nothing tops the golf course sunken Taco.

Most of my bad/good drinking stories are from college, many years ago....way back in the early 80's when the legal drinking age for all states was 18 for beer, and some of them shared the 18 age for liquor. That factored primarily in my college choice to attend West Virginia University instead of several other schools.

Anyway our biggest rival was Pitt. So my 2 roommates and I sign up for a student services bus trip to attend the WVU/Pitt basketball game held at Fitzgerald Field House on the Pitt campus. On the way up we were hitting the Bacardi 151 hard... we purchased a handle and had it consumed by the time we rolled up to the arena. I also had a Bota bag I filled with another fifth of 151, for mixing inside the game. The Student services person gives us our tickets as we exit the bus, and we roll in with all our Mountaineer gear (including pom-poms some cute girl on the bus gave everyone) only to find our seats (not everyone on the bus, just 5 of us) are smack in the middle of a sea of Pitt fans. No matter, we proceed to keep drinking coke laced with the rum I brought in and to cheer loudly for our team, and boo everything Pitt does, to the point the whole crowd in our section is pissed, glaring at us, telling us to go home, etc.

After one sweet steal and breakaway dunk, we are standing cheering and my roommate is shaking his pom-pom, which is brushing a woman in front of us repeatedly on the back of her head. She snaps, turns around screaming something about drunken hillbillies, and takes my 'coke' and throws it into my roommates face. But it's pretty much straight up 151, and then he starts screaming, I CAN'T SEE!! MY EYES ARE BURNING!!. So two of us grab him and start dragging him out of the stands to wash his eyes out. Fitzgerald field house had a indoor track between the stands and the court. Right in front of the stands where we are dragging him along the track and the Pitt cheerleaders are standing, he then begins to projectile vomit the contents of his stomach... right onto the legs of several cheerleaders.

Of course all this gets the attention of the campus PD, who promptly swoop in and grab all three of us and drag us outside the nearest door and, after the puking is over, place us in the back of a squad car for the rest of the game. So we missed a great WVU win but at least they didn't arrest us. They escorted us back to the bus after the game, and when we got home, there were about six messages on our machine about how everyone watching the televised game saw him vomiting on the cheerleaders and us getting nabbed by the cops.:D
