Still a huge lake. But there was plenty of playa to drive and camp, so maybe not quite as huge.

Just don't set up camp right next to the water, because that shit creeps.

    Wrecked!
I am saddened to confirm that there was a fatal roll over accident on the trail early this morning. I do not have any further details to share at this time.
I would like to give my deepest condolences to the family and friends for their recent loss and offer them any support that I along with Friends of the Rubicon can give.
Secondly, I would like to take this chance to remind everyone of the importance of safety on the Rubicon Trail. Please, please wear your seatbelt and be prepared for an incident. You never know what lies ahead, please always be mindful that this is a dangerous sport. Check your fire extinguishers, medical packs and update your Reach/ Air Med ( Calstar) membership.
    Please wear your seatbelt.
    With a deeply heavy heart,
    FOTR Trail boss

Man I'm sorry to hear this. Pray for his or her family.

Yes gents this is a dangerous hobby we dabble in and you never wanna hear or see this happen to anyone. But accidents do happen and it is each and everyone's responsibility to be as prepared as possible. Make sure all your shit is strapped down in the bed of your truck and don't keep any heavy items in the cab that can hit you or a passenger in the head in the event of a roll over. Also highly recommend the medivac insurance. It's not very expensive and will save you 10k per person in the event you need to be airlifted out.

Again my condolences to this persons family

    Found this: http://www.mtdemocrat.com/news/dui-suspected-in-fatal-jeep-rollover-on-the-rubicon/

Sadly, it looks like it was extremely avoidable. 2AM drunk wheeling, no seat belt, passenger got thrown and crushed. Driver's being charged w/ DUI and manslaughter.

something to really think about to those that drink a lot on the trails. myself included. I have had a few driving a time or 2. but try not to go overboard with it. It just sucks for all of us when something like this hits close to home. doesn't help get trails open and stay open. I saw some video of Cadillac hill this last week end and it looks to bad. they have to move a few boulders before the rubithon as it will be to crazy.

Attempted Signal peak yesterday but still deep snow drifts on last 100 yards before the top. When I got back to trail head a guy was asking for help because his Toyota crawler was under water at the first water crossing on Fordyce. Him and his GF almost drowned. I considered it if he was unable to reach anyone but his buddies showed to go retrieve. He was on 40s and only his cab was above water.

Found the cure for road rage today. 98.1 the Breeze.

I regressed back into a state of rage when Kenny G came on and an Uber/ Lyft Hyundai Sonata cut me off.

    Short lived solution.

98.1 and 98.5 are on the most when I don't have my Bluetooth speaker with in the work CRV. They play some jams, regardless of old school or not. I don't even really like 50% of the songs, but I can sing along with 90% :rockband:

Edit - no song can cure me from the rage of uber idiots. Especially in sf
