Pics for reference. This was after wiping it all down. I've been driving it for going on 2 weeks so I would not think the oil would have been as clean as it was when I wiped it off if they had just not cleaned it up during the replacement.

My truck has been with Toyota for 43 days and still nothing, I received a call from the service manager last week stating that my truck should be ready in a week, a week went by and still nothing, I finally decided to take my truck home because I hated the fact that it's just been left out for so long. I now have my truck and am still 2nd in line to get the repairs done once the parts arrive, worse part about this is now I have 2 scratches on my truck which ofcourse will also be fixed together with the differential, I should've never brought it there so early and just wait

OK bro, since your truck was NOT on the recall list (I went back and saw your first post in this thread), they fixed it under warranty prior to the "official" remedy, which came out on June 15. So now that there is this official remedy, maybe if they do it this way, your truck will be OK.

The official remedy was attached in post 2065 of this thread.

48 days for me. At least you know you're second in line. Are you driving your truck? Is your seep the same or worse? Did you have to sign a waiver to get your truck back?

Honestly at this point I don't care as much about getting my truck back it's been so long, they beat me into submission. I'm starting to forget what my truck looks like.

So how many recalls do you guys think dealers can do in a day, on average? I was told there are currently 86 others in front of me in queue, when I set my appointment on Friday (I bring mine in Tomorrow), and I'm wondering how long this is going to take.

You will not be alone in damage. And may will not even be aware or notice minor stuff till way after.
Being out there unattended for all that time, cats, birds, squirrels, door openings by attendants and such some damage will be hard to avoid.

I and other have advised to just wait for the letter because of that and other reasons. No need to be the first ginnie pig on your vehicle unless you're dripping oil which the overwhelming majority are not, and if it was it is very evident if you just look were you park at over night.

Then there will be the damage that will be on rental loaners too.
Most of those will be spotted as soon as it is turned in and they will be held accountable for damage on the spot. Not a good thing for most, definitely not worth it for me, but that's just me.

Again, if you can wait, you'll be out the door faster and things will be much better.

    Best of luck to all.
    Cheers!

I'm hoping for them to do more than just a repeat of what already failed but it looks like they were proactive and already included the updates that were released on June 15th (carrier gasket, studs, and even pinion seal). My next step is going to be have them replace everything again then, should that fail again, go to corporate for a free platinum warranty. I'm assuming (I know...) that since they won't want to deal with whatever could happen should this fail again they will be doing whatever they can this time.

For my own reference (not that I am even remotely ready or wanting to go down that road), does anybody know how the Arizona lemon law would work being out of state? I bought the truck in Yuma and registered it in California, and have had the warranty work done at a dealership in San Diego. It looks like, at first glance, their qualifications are more or less the same as California's, I was just wondering if the original dealership would be granted the opportunity to try to fix everything as well, meaning I would be without the truck twice as long and would have to have get the truck out to Yuma.

Mine is done. I bought it two days before news of leak hit. I called salesman about it. He said to keep eye on it. If it starts leaking, physically dripping to bring it in. If not just drive it till I got recall notice. That's what I did.

I received my recall letter on Saturday. I don't see any sign of leaks, so I'm going to wait a month or two until I bring it in for the 5000 mile service.

That might be a bad idea, some have gone this route, and ended up with broken studs, explain that at the dealership.
Best to leave it alone, at most check and fill the fluid if it's low...

If the dealer does it, no problem, if you do it and brake a stud off, then what...:notsure:

I hear ya I didn't realize those studs were susceptible to that.

Just dropped mine off at the dealership again. They gave me an FRS for a rental car which is fun but not nearly as practical as I would have liked.

My service adviser said they were going to look at it again but did not have a time frame for the repair. He also said said they've been replacing differentials if the leakage was bad enough but I don't know if he was just talking about the running gear, as mentioned in the updated recall, or the housing itself.

Took mine in Saturday to the dealership and they inspected it. They found seepage in four places, ordered the parts, and sent me on my way. Said they would call me when the parts came in. They don't do rental cars unless it is dripping bad which really makes sense.

Already heard back from my dealership after only a couple of hours. Looks like they pinched an o-ring on the of the sensors during their last re-assembly. They replaced the o-ring and drained/re-filled everything again. Very relieved it was something simple.

Well I took mine in, and sure enough it was seized. There are a ton in front of me in queue so it's likely to be long while before I see it again.

I'm now the proud driver of a red Rav4 loaner. I definitely could have done worse. It's a decent ride and I'm not embarrassed to be seen in it. lol
