Yeah, that dude did very well for himself. I honestly never considered the P&T package just due to the $3,000 cost and what came with it. Different strokes for different folks.

Don't be man! I might of saved some money but it cost a lot of my time simply because I had never bought a vehicle by haggling with dealers via email. Huge learning experience.

For anyone reading this post that feels they got ripped off just know one thing...we all have! I might of gotten a good deal on my truck (I worked my ass off for it) but I was screwed over by a realtor who let me pay $12,000 more for a house then it was worth even though I found the house and did all the work. I pretty much handed her a sale on a silver platter and then she screwed me.

Lying car salesmen, realtors, and military recruiters. F**k them all.

I graduated Infantry OSUT at Ft. Benning on March 11, 2004. I bought a brand new black 2004 GMC Sierra SWB w/V6 and MT for $12,000 on March 14th with my sign on bonus, OSUT savings, and HS summer job money. A great day. I even still have the truck and its in great condition. You did well man!

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!

I ,speaking as a "old fart, (upper 60's) vote on the side of good deal! If you did one thing wrong maybe? -- is the far away air trip. I am local to central Mo and had 2 local dealers want my business. One said he would meet or beat anyone else,s deal --which he did. I checked with all of the St Louis dealers and the one in Springfield mo. They did not come close.
You should be proud of yourself for your strong work ethic and desire to succeed --sounds like you will do well in life.
If I could-- (I will)-- give one tidbit of advice to you --and I know you did not ask for it --but here goes!
Leave the "military language" behind. It does nothing for other peoples opinion of your outstanding quality work ethic and desire to succeed. This comes from a ex USAF vet of the Viet-Nam war, father of 3, and grandfather of 9. I still find myself slipping into the old "military language once in awhile as well, with the help of a beer or two-sadly.
I got a 17 SR5 AC AT 4WD with tow pkg. for 30475 --inc a 75 paperwork (BS) fee. at my closest dealer.

Love the truck with the exception of the "surging on warm-up idle". This problem has been discussed some on this site. I have only 3500 miles on mine, so I have just now began to discuss this issue with the dealer. I thought the problem would work itself away --it DID NOT!
My son-in-law said the surge is ridiculous after he drove it for a very short first time while maneuvering it in to a Aircraft hanger (around some small jets. He is a 15 yr "A&P mechanic (FAA certified) and a 4k hour multi-jet engine pilot. In other words --he knows his stuff mechanically.

I paid full MSRP at Charles Maund Toyota in Austin Texas... then they proceeded to rip me off not honoring the warranty :)

I'll never got back to that place for anything...

While I love my truck, the buying process from the stealership was horrible.

We all feel your pain in some way or the other man. Live and learn, don't dwell on it, and drive on.
