I'm trying to convince my wife to go camping and we can just sleep in the back of the truck. She's not buying it.

 

In a camper shell or uncovered??

 

With a shell, beware of the thickness of the mattress. I am searching for the perfect double mattress for my platform+shell.

 

Yeah finding that low profile of a mattress will be really tricky. Otherwise you won't have any headroom! That's why I'm not opposed to a high rise topper.

 

What I am thinking

 

If I could do the shell thing over again, I would get a mid-rise.

 

That's what I'd want, or something along those lines. Pair that with some comfy blankets and you're snug as a bug!

That looks expensive. Link? I've had to sleep on an air mattress with a small 1" memory foam topper for a few weeks, and it was surprisingly comfy.
