My truck, new to me (after my 02 4 cylinder was totaled by a girl texting) has a strange idle.

At cold start up (75 degree f this morning) it idles at 1600-1700. Once it warm up, it will settle down to 800-750. It seems to idle high when I am rolling to a stop with the clutch in also. Seems too high to me, but this is my first 3vz-fe, is it?

I suspect one of the following
1.) ect sensor? - no codes stored
2.) vacuum leak - why not high all the time?
    3.) sticky IAC ?

    thoughts?
I know some of you have experienced the same. Please let me know what you think.
    thanks.

I thought the 3vzfe was the old 90's camry engine?

That's what I wanted to know, is that normal. It seems high to me, as my 3rz didn't idle so high.

You can try cleaning the IAC (if equipped) and see if the idle lowers. Also make sure you defrost is off.

Easiest steps would be to clean your MAF, throttle body and IAC.

If you still idle high then you could have a bad throttle position sensor. But that usually throws a code.
