You should see other methods of killing pests that have been used for hundreds of years.

All of our technological and medical prowess and we still can't kill a human humanely, let alone a pest population that can single handedly destroy billions of dollars worth of property and food in a year.

NM '98 owner & rodents of all sorts are a big problem here......hell.I've seen cottontails jump out when the hood is opened in town.lol
They are my nemisis ....rats,mice,chipmunks & rabbits. So far they have not chewed my wiring in the Tacoma, but get into air cleaner & heater/vent ducts.Hardware cloth covers where applicable, and dryer softeners tied to corner wiring has saved me. My neighbors are constantly having wiring repaired on vehicles......knock on my wooden head.....

Rats chewed my windshield sprayer line, went to use and was hosing down my engine compartment. Was able fix with 1/4" line and barbed irrigation fittings, shown in pics. Nailed the bastard later that night. Peanuts. They can't resist. Bad this year think because of the winter rains.

Illegal pro tip find nest use gopher bait 2% phosphate , because of its mode of action, unlike warfarin and 2nd gen anticoagulants, it doesn't generally kill predators. Because owls and coyotes are cool, rats not so much. Kills rats with one feeding. Doesn't list/isn't sold as rat poison in CA anymore because nanny state.

The trick is to have a large number of predatory animals around. I live in the country outside of Sonora CA and have never seen anything smaller than a possum or skunk on my property. The real vermin are the deer...they'll strip your garden down to the stems.

Home Depot and Lowes both sell those in two sizes. The larger size is the one you want.

Or the half dozen feral cats running around the neighborhood.

I'm waiting for the coyotes I keep hearing to come down and take care of them...

    all tore up already
Forgive me if this is a dumb question but whats in the trap that attracts the rat? Id be weary about baiting them into the trap because you could be drawing them toward the truck. Dont get rats up here in nh but ive always tucked away moth balls in weird spots as a deterrent.

On another note can we talk about how stupid it is to have soy insulated wiring? Yeah it may be a bit better for the earth, but cmon. Rodents chewing wires used to be uncommon, i swear i see 1 a week now and the dealership i work at is small. Gimme the good ole asbestos lead wrapped whatever the hell they used to use stuff.

Peanuts work great, I have a mason jar full I've been using for > decade. Is convienient because you can leave the jar out in your garden or wherever making it less time consuming to reset the traps. Tuck a half under the bait stake thingy. Don't use too much because their buddies will eat the peanut after one is killed.

I'll try one of those TC traps as my Victors are a bit big......Have way too many coyotes & such for barn cats I fear. As for the garden,I had to build an elk fence....

I live in the country and used to have rodents get in my airbox and destroy stuff under my hood. Fixed it by making my own capsaisin spray.

1 pint habaneros quartered and soaked in 91% alcohol for 1-2 weeks. It turns orange the longer it sits. Strain into a spray bottle and spray anywhere you don't want rodents. Extremely potent. I gag with each pull of the spray trigger with my head turned away.

I spray the engine bay, pull the air filter element out and spray the airbox and in the fenderwell where the engine takes in air. Keeps them out.
