ECT wake up call for the day

can't seem to get the A/C control bezel to come off. it is trapped at the steering column side and feels like it will break?

 

Does the ShiftSense improve the responsiveness to pedal input? It didn't sound like it going through the controller thread, but for everyone's sake here, I hope it helps.

 

I'm curious why different online testers found the 0-60 slower with ETC enabled. Some .2 and others by .5 slower. This doesn't make sense unless it truly holds the gear longer.

 

The fastest test I saw from 0-60 was from Motor Trend and it was not with ECT.
Edit: The time was 6.8 btw.

 

I've had it cut the throttle on me in ECT, and it wasn't a traction issue. Just acted like I completely let off the gas. Is dangerous

 

Do you know what the 2015 times are?

 

A lot of third gen haters may not want to read this but I'm quoting from Motor Trend since they got a 6.9 and 7.1 second run on the third gen. The 2015 TRD Pro achieved a 7.7 second 0-60 run by MT. Link below. My third gen, after the truck was broken in and after the tranny adapted to my driving habits, feels quicker to 60 than my second gen did.

Off the line I feel that my 17 lags badly compared to my 15. Do you feel like it's slow off the line?

 

When I first drove my truck I thought something had to be wrong with it. It felt like a dog. But, I followed the break in procedures to the T and slowly saw the truck getting more and more responsive as the adaptive transmission adjusted to my driving habits. Now, I have zero issues with the power of my truck. It has enough for me. Would I like more? Of course I would. But, the difference at highway speeds between my second and third gens are night and day. The third gen is tacking 2,000 RPM at 82 whereas my second gen was taxed at that speed.

Now for your answer - the torque down low was a bit better on the second gen but that was at lower speeds. My second gen felt a bit better maybe from 0-20 but after that my third gen is clearly more powerful. I think many on here forget that the second gen only had 236hp. The third gen is unique because while it feels slower at lower speeds it is clearly faster from 0-60. The torque curve for the third gen favors highway cruising for sure but overall it has enough for me. I do think some more grunt down low would please the masses more.

 

I can for sure feel the power difference once it kicks it. With out a doubt faster overall.

What break in process are you talking about?

 

Do the ETC mod. I did it and it was well worth the time and money invested. S-Mode around town and D-Mode on the highway takes care of everything for me.

 

Just the one in the owner's manual. Nothing fancy...

 

I'm scared to mess with any wires on a 40 thousand dollar truck.

The truck feels fine to me with ECT on. As others have said, I wish it would stay on every start up until I chose to turn it off...from the factory.

Why sport mode in the city?

 

I generally liked the way this truck drove, a/t with no buttons or mods. But it did have certain limitations in my mind but I was learning how to drive it. Which was a little lame. You should be able to just push the throttle and not have to 'figure' out how much mash gives you the power and gear you want.

Well long story still kinda long, I decided to hit the ECT button for my morning commute a few days ago. Wow. Not even kidding. It drove how I expected it to from the beginning. I actually was able to pass a guy with a move that I hadn't thought was possible with this truck, no problem. It almost seems like regular driving mode is to appease the EPA and the ECT button is Toyota's wink wink mode. ECT/24/7/365. And it's free!!
