I've had 4 including a supercharged AP1 and it's still slow vs other cars. lol.

I've had trucks tailgate the hell out of me so I think some truck drivers don't understand your statement. lol. But about trucks....remember X-runner? Toyota claimed it handles better than the 350z at the time.

But back to the point..the butt dyno never lies.

The butt dyno measures fun. And so long as you enjoy your car who cares, right?

I appreciate the offer. As others have posted already it is proven that your cai wont add any measurable performance gains. Have a good day.

Actually what's been proven in the post above is minimal gains...

Even though it's in the first post... I will reiterate... The only time there's a difference is at WOT... But at WOT there's definitely a "feelable" difference and I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is. Are you?

I never said i had increased HP
Or torque... All i ever said was it takes off faster. Again there's proof in post above that cais can improve throttle response and reduce hesitation. Therefore taking off faster.

Keep acting like you're an expert with no first hand experience but in October i will be at the camp meet up in Inverness and my offer still stands. I will even let you drive so you can personally feel the difference.

I'm not a cai fan boy... Hell this is my first cai EVER! IF there was no difference at all i wouldn't make these claims. But there's hundreds and hundreds of positive reviews for this intake... From people who actually own this exact intake... If it did "nothing" I'm sure the reviews would be less than stellar.

I've been super active in other forums. But this one has the most haters I have ever seen. Someone is excited about their new intake and posting so others possibly interested in it can find that info....then people have to bring it down. He didn't claim mass power, he is enjoying the throttle response and sound he is experiencing. I have the same setup. Chose it due to the added variations of air intakes possible with it. Sounds good (everyone comments on it) and slightly added mileage around town. Not so much highway.
Everyone's ridiculous critique of what someone else likes but they don't agree with, is preventing people to post what could be helpful info to others.

Absolutely correct. They make the best proven aftermarket intake sysem for the 6.5 Turbodiesel GMT400 trucks/Yukons/'burbs.

Woke up my '94 K2500 6.5td Suburban big time. "790.2 miles drank 43 gallons to a sweet 18.376mpg! I believe this higher mpg is directly related to the S&B intake with end cap removed since that was the only mod I did. Out here in the mountains of Colorado, 7000' in elevation most of the speed limits are 60-75mph. I keep the tach @ 2,000rpms = 63mph with the 235/85/16 rollers. "

    I know it, the variances are crazy. I have had a 2016 4 cyl sr tacoma, a 2016 2wd 3.5 V6 sr5, and now a 2017 4wd v6 sr5. All have managed 20+ mpg per tank. I see people posting numbers as low as 14mpg and i wonder wtf!

Ok... As far as fuel economy changes with the cai... I'll need more time to know for sure.

It seems like a give and take... At times I'm getting 26mpg and other times I'm at 18mpg. The current average also seems to change more frequently. Within minutes of standing still i can drop all the way to 12mpg, and before it would take Longer for the current average to drop and normally wouldn't drop below 20 unless i was sitting for 10 minutes plus...now in 2 minutes of idling I'm under 20mpg...and down into low teens.

But the overall average is up... Albeit only a bit. I drove over 5 hours today and on the worst stretch this was the results...

Tomorrow i will clean the maf sensor. And will update this thread if that makes any difference... And i will also take pictures of the tank average once the gas light comes on.

But my overall impressions are still very positive! I'm not ripping it out that's for sure.

I sold it... My wife's car was down for a while and she was using my truck for work and she didn't like it. So i took it off... But then i needed funds for something else.. So i sold it.

But i enjoyed it. Miss it at times. But not enough to buy another. If my goal was faster on street driving I'd get another, and tune the truck... But my goals now all revolve around off-road driving.

I dunno how much time you've spent behind the wheel of a 3rd gen but the 3.5 is great for highway passing. It has over 40 more hp than the 2nd gen's 4.0 (which is more important at highway speeds). I live in a pretty hilly area and need to drive up a long hill to go home and yeah it's a little buzzy in the upper RPMs if I don't want to dog it but I don't mind too much.

I had a 2016 4runner for several weeks and that has the newer 270hp 4.0. I could definitely feel more grunt on the bottom end up it fell flat past 40mph or so.

1/4 mile times are quite telling. The 3rd gen runs low 15's while the 4runner runs low 16s. Granted, sure, the truck would be even better with the 4runner's 4.0 but it does well with what it has and also gets better MPGs than either the 2nd gen or the 4runner.

I am right there with you I drive over 80 miles round trip in my 6 speed 3rd gen the best I’ve seen is 18.5 that’s driving it like grandpa keeping it below 2000rpms seems to help if this intake has any sort of mpg gains I’m in it seems as though my truck gets just about the same mpg as my 2nd gen auto 4.0 with 285s

S&B has these test for all their system. Interesting is that the dry filter "performs better" than the oiled filter.

The big test they have never done is a dyno test. That is the info that we all want to read to verify if there is hp/torque increase/decrease to our trucks with said part.

Btw the stock Toyota air box Is a a Cold Air Intake system.

Yes I know the stock intake is a cold air intake but there are a few areas that could be improved upon. I was going to address those areas separately and keep the stock box but I saw a S&B CAI on ebay for a good price and couldnt pass it up.

If I remember I will see if I can dyno my truck before and after i install the intake.

It's cool but do it for the sound because you won't get any measurable gains. Make sure you like the louder sound.
