Front skid plate mount extensions?

hey what is this? Does it serve any purpose? Tried seachching but tbh I don't know what it's called. Located under the front bumper where the skid plate is attached.

 

I was wondering the same thing. I'm probably going to cut it off and plate it

 

I wouldn't cut it, it looks like that bolt will allow you to remove it.

 

I will have to look at it again to see how far it goes into the frame. I didn't want to lose any strength it might provide to the frame.

 

Same thing was asked a while back, no one seemed to come up with a solid answer of what it is really for. But a few suggested it is a crash bar for partial front impact(helps prevent the footwells from getting crushed).
