My V6 coils came in yesterday but I'm hesitant to put them in. Tags have the right part numbers on them so that checks out but they're a little different from each other and that's what worries me. For one the finishes on them are different. One is dark black & glossy and the other is more washed out with a flatter finish. Also as you can see one spring is coiled up a little tighter than the other. It makes sense I guess since it's the driver side spring but I just expected them to be identical.. What do you guys think? Just install them or hold off? I'm gonna call the dealership I got them from on Tuesday to try and get some info but I wanted to run it by TW first.

Looks fine to me. The extra coil being on the drivers side is normal. More weight on that side

Let me Know how it turns out. Pre and post pictures and measurements. I have a set of v6 coils that I would consider putting on a 4 cylinder if it work out.

I'd check b4 tackling installation. I hear installing the V6 coils on the 2wd are a pain, especially if you're replacing ball joints, tie rod ends, and bushings, (if needed) which is a good idea since you're gonna dismantle the suspension to complete the swap.
Those appear to be a bit tall; you might be able to confirm, I believe the Moog website has dimensions of coil springs.
Have you asked the source where you purchased these?
    Good Luck!

I'm gonna push it back to next weekend on second thought but I'll keep the thread updated with info. You think you could post a pic of your coils for comparison?

I'll be calling the dealership I got them from on Tuesday to try and get some info. Hopefully they'll be able to clear things up.

Toyota part #s.....front V6 coil springs for 2wd (not prerunner) drivers side 4813104140 and passenger side 4813104130
At least from my experience, I'm gonna venture to say if they're from the dealer, they're probably correct.
Also, if you've never worked with coil spring compressors, I'd recommend a qualified shop to do the work. OFC you've probably heard that advice b4, no offense.

I got some fabtech coils off a prerunner at pick part. Fit pretty good on my 5lug, leveled it out but was a little stiff

I actually forgot to take pre-measurements so the best I could do was measure both sides with one side complete and the other side 'stock'. The completed side was exactly 1 inch taller.

Before and after install. The camera angle might be a little deceiving.

Hi there. I'm looking to do the same. I've got some spacers in and want to just level out the truck. Recently replaced ball joints, bushings, and tie rods. Would just like to know if you've had any issues since you swapped the coils? Any problems with the control arms? Know of any other possible problems I could face? 03, regular cab, 4cyl 5 lugger here. Thanks in advance

I compared the data sheets of the moog 81070 directly against OME 2880. And they line up. Im going to pull the trigger hopefully it works.
    1998 excab tacoma 2wd 5 lugger

    additional info:
    http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/tech_OME_coils.html —OME specs

    https://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/universal_coil_springs.asp — moog specs

    moog 81070 vs OME 2880 (4cyl replacement)
    spring rate- 420/ 500 (lb/in)
    bar diameter- .64 / .63 (in)
    Free height- 14.51 / 14.37 (in)

in comparison the moog 81068 vs OME 2882 (v6 replacement)
    Spring rate- 315/ 500
    Bar diameter- .6 / .63
    Free height- 15.3 / 15.55

lastly the moog 81072 vs OME 2881 (somewhere in between)
    Spring rate- 315/ 500
    Bar diameter- .6 / .63
    Free height- 14.93 / 14.76

hope this helps other 5 lug peoples. Will update how my old man emu 2880 coils install and fit

    more info: https://www.qa1.net/tech-center/spring-rate-tech

from what i gather street vehicle should be 25% compressed under the weight of the vehicle at rest. so for the ome 2880 at 14.37 free height “should” be compressed 25% for a smooth ride which is 3.5925 inches, leaving the spring at 10.7775 inches. To accomplish that multiplying the compressed length by the spring rate will give you the proper weight it’s supposed to be under.
    3.5925in x500lb/in=1796.25 lbs

so this spring is perfect at that weight. (Assuming it’s straight up and down, as angle increases the weight required to compress spring increases) Now the weight of truck dispersed over 4 shocks 2 coils and a bunch of leaf springs.

    Conclusion:
I have no idea how much your truck should weigh

Well, my shocks and springs were shit. My tire was 2 fingers in from the fender. With 3in spindle, shocks and new spring i can now fit 2 full fists in there. So i almost got 6 inches, ill take some pics tomorrow, spring was supposed to add about an inch. But i was apparently sagging.
