Hey guys, I have had a terrible leaking issue with my factory tonneau cover. I have read on here others say they have no leaks to just a few leaks to others having leaking issues. I just want to see if others are experiencing the same thing as me. Mine leaks horribly in the rear corners near the cab and I will have consistent streaks of water down the sides of the bed like under the bed rails from near the cab all the way to the tailgate. It can do a light rain for an hour and I will have puddles in the rear corners of my bed. When in day light I can open the tailgate and look at the rear corners near cab and see daylight through about dime-nickel sized hole. I did check and do hat the rubber things that are suppose to be there. It is aggravating that I cannot keep anything in the bed with a slight chance of rain or it will get wet.

I also want to see what others have experienced with dealers about the cover. I have taken mine 3 times to the dealer and every time I get the same ol its just the way they were made, can't do anything about it. The other trucks on the lot do the same thing nothing we can do. I have seen on TW that others have heard the same, I have also seen 1 guy had Toyota buy back the cover and he paid the difference for a different cover, any one else have this happen, if so did you talk to corporate directly? I am just aggravated I can't get anything done about it.

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Was it installed properly? I had mine since day one factory installed and it's been through the recent SoCal rain storm and many car washes and not a single drop of water has leaked through. Not rubbing it in, but strange why it would leak so much for you when it's a strong seal for me.

Yea as far as I know its installed right. I have taken it off and made sure everything lines up and the latches are tight. I do the double click near on the back side by the tailgate. Yea that is strange. I am in VA so we get an ok amount of rain. I don't park on much on an incline. Usually parked pretty level

This is of interest to me as well...I bought the truck, along with the factory hard tonneau, because on trips, we could never get all of our crap in a car...Leaks won't be good with luggage and golf clubs in the bed...I can already see light around the front edge of mine, so I'm going to try some adjustments...It's actually slightly lifted in the front and back, so the main seal isn't contacting the top edge of the bed...I hope it's just an adjustment, or I'll be in hot water...

Mine leaks a little fwiw... but I didn't expect 100% water tight. The rubber bed mat keeps things out of the puddling because it just goes down the corners and under the mat. So far most part everything stays dry (even in the NorCal rainy season).

If the truck is just sitting in the rain, I see hardly any leakage. Driving through a storm at 60mph tends to drive rain underneath seals between the rail covers though.

Expecting no leaks is unrealistic. They all leak to some degree. I would feel comfortable with luggage in the back driving through any storm though.

Make sure the latches are locked all the way by pressing down firmly on the square pieces

There's really no way to incorrectly install the thing. I've heard a couple of cases where shims were needed but I believe these were cases where people piecemealed the cover by ordering the parts individually.

Are the little rubber pieces in place on the corners near the cab?

Mine leaks a little and has since day 1. On short trips it isn't so bad but if I had to drive through rain for hours I'd worry about luggage in the back of mine. Just looking how it is designed I'd say you will be pretty hard pressed to make it water tight.

I've thought about selling mine and seeing if I would have better results for an aftermarket one

I had to open the first panel once while it was raining last weekend. The draining system is inside the bed.

leaking is not the right term to describe this.

On a nice sunny day, you and a buddy (you trust, very important) crawl into the bed with cover and tailgate closed look around for sunlight cracks and seal it up then have buddy let you out. Worked for me, I had a small gap near the front of the bed sealed it with plumbers putty and been dry ever since.

Unless the cover malfunctions, it does open from the inside. Unless of course your buddy is sitting on top of it and weighs 500 pounds.

Thanks a million for taking the time to post these photos. Where do these pieces go? Were they supposed to come with the OEM tonneau cover if my truck came with one?

    Again, thanks so much!

If they were installed they should be up where the side rail meets the header rail up by the cab. Some daylight still shines through, but not as bad without these.

Not my picture. The circle shows the gasket. The x is where the light comes through and someone put a small piece of rubber to help.

Just chiming in experience here. Mine doesn't leak much, but it hasn't been watertight. Sounds like I'm in the middle here

Yes mine has the rubber things in the corners and yes I do see daylight where the X is in the picture. I don't expect no water what so ever but mine is letting a lot of water in. Hope it rains this weekend so I can post some pictures.
