Nice. I've been there once and would go again. They're a little bit out of my way though. We're regular visitors to KBC Brewery and Beer Garden in Webster. They make good German style beers and also have a bunch of guest taps from other local (100 mile radius) brewers, cider houses, meaderies, wineries and distilleries. Worth checking out if you have a chance.

My camp in Eustis, ME, stay home and take day trips and do work around the house/on the truck, or head to Awendaw, SC

It's only about 5 minutes from my house, so it's convenient. And you can bring take out food and eat it there!

I'll have to check out that place. I like the idea of guest taps to get a flavor of something different.

@jpereira2 You were going to install an additional trans cooler and fan, weren't you? Maybe I missed your post, did you ever get that done?

KBC is the same for me and also a BYOF. 6 miles away from home. We've ridden bikes down on a nice afternoon.

My vote would be SC, but only because I have never been there and seems like a cool place.

Morning everybody! Another example of why I want to get a dashcam! I'd have had some awesome footage for you guys this morning if I had one. :pout:
Got to dodge a load of rebar on my way to work. There's a sharp curve in the road on my way in, and this morning a truck came around it in the oncoming lane and had his load of rebar lose its rear tie-down and slip off so that it was hanging half on/half off the truck. At first I thought that it was a load of sticks or something but then I realized that they were sparking and that it was actually rebar. The way that it was hanging it was most of the way across my lane (on a narrow country road with a dirt shoulder, on a curve. I was doing probably 55 and he dumped the load maybe 300 feet in front of me, so I stomped the brakes and cut over onto the shoulder to dodge the rebar dragging past, then cut back into the road. Apparently the shoulder was slippery from the rain, though, because I felt the tail slip out when I went to cut back into the road and I probably drifted for 10 feet or so before it hooked back up. Quite a heart-starter, especially because I had the GF in the truck with me because I was dropping her off to meet a coworker today and she was screaming at me the whole time about how I was going to crash, lol.

After it was done I pointed out to her that I was already paying attention to the fact that I might crash, and I didn't need her to tell me about it

No need for coffee to wake you up after that! And I hate that.. something happens and you react and then get yelled at by GF, like it was your choice to have a truck dump rebar in front of you.

Half right, I didn't install an additional trans cooler, but I did install a small puller fan behind the cooler. We will see how she does this Sunday. But ideally I would be buying a Tundra in the coming year to gain some back seat room.

    Enjoy the trip!
How far do you want to travel? Unfortunately, anything overnight is likely out as most places will be booked up this weekend. You could venture into the Catskills or, if you want to go further up, the Adirondacks. Catskills you could probably make a day trip out of, decent hiking and stuff to see.
    Maine!
Damn, sounds like it worked out about as well as it could have. Would have sucked starting the weekend with a wrecked truck! Glad you guys made it out without a scratch.

She's not normally like that; she knows I'm (in all modesty) a damned good driver. I've taken classes, even, on vehicle dynamics and fast driving, etc. and had a lot of practice. There's a reason that I drive 95% of the time when we go somewhere. But I think it surprised the hell out of her and that was what freaked her out more than anything. She's sitting there drinking her tea and 2 seconds later I'm half in the ditch mostly sideways and there's a big load of sparking steel flying past.

Yeah, that would have sucked. Glad we had someplace to go when the rebar came off their roof rack; most of the roads in my area don't really have shoulders, just ditches and then trees. But, if we hadn't I guess I could have stuck with just standing on the brakes, crossing my fingers, and taking the hit; that's what insurance is for and the truck has a 5-star crash rating. But I'd still rather avoid it, haha!
