streamable link first https://streamable.com/pr953 with a faint hint of the sound it's much more prominent in person and easier to detect with computer speakers than a phone speaker.

I thought it was a pulley but i after having all belts and pulleys replaced the sound continued

    does not happen in park

    does not happen in (L)ow

start hearing it while in (2)nd

regularly hear it while in (D)rive

can easily reproduce while driving around town speeds by releasing pedal below 2k rpms then accelerating above 2k

it sounds really shallow like exhaust but it's also a grinding(ish?) noise and it doesn't happen in park so i don't know how it could be exhaust or heat shielding. I see a lot of posts in the same vein but none seem to really line up with what mine is doing.

just got the truck a couple months ago mileage is right at 200k.

any help will be appreciated thanks!

Does temperature effect it? Auto or manual?

The noise that comes in after you step on the gas? And continues after you let off then it tapers off? If thats the noise your refering to, its the radiator cooling fan. Possibly the fan clutch bearing.

Similar noise here. Mine seems to do it after long 2 hour plus drives, same rpm especially when letting off the gas. Haven't discovered what it is

To clarify it's very high pitched almost sounds like a turbo in pitch and it's kind of hard to hear in this video but it's the best I can do. Fan clutch bearing does sound like a very good lead compared to what I found. It definitely sounds like some sort of loose or missing bearing from a pully. Would the fan bearing only act up at a certain rpm though?

it sounds like a jingle in the video. Like something is loose and rattling at those rpms.... Have you done a thorough visual inspection?

Does outside temps or engine temp effect it?

why not pop the serpentine belt off and take the truck for a very short test drive to confirm the noise is still there or gone ?
A very short test drive with the belt removed eliminates a bunch of components .
If that dont work , try a video of the sound the truck makes .
Its difficult to diagnose sounds over a keyboard .

the link in his first post is a video of the noise. all I could hear was a jingle jangle noise that sounded like a loose metal bracket or something

No serp belt on first gen. But pull the belts and give it a go. Watch your temp though.

Also try driving next to a brick fence with window down. See if its any loader or more noticeable on a recording

Thanks for all the feedback sorry I haven't had much time to do some of these tests. The fan when hand spun doesn't make any noise. I'm just confused on what might only activate at those specific rpms? I've been thinking of the best description of the sound sounds like rubbing two knives together but continuous with no breaks.
