Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
2003 3.4 Double Cab. Check engine light is on. No others. Popped into Advanced Auto Parts store, reader came up with "open in stop light switch circuit". All lights work fine. I have done no changes or mods on truck. Ran reader 3 times, once after disconnecting and reconnecting battery. Code is on as soon as key is turn on. Ideas? Thanks.

The brake light switch has 4 wires that go to it and 2 circuits. I believe on is for the computer.

Remember a code is the complete circuit for what ever switch sensor etc.

So the complete circuit needs to be checked along with the ECM

The first thing you should do is this:
Check voltage at the "STP" wire at the ABS module with the key on and someone stepping on the brake.

I saw this problem a lot while working at Lexus. The brake switch is probably bad.

Update. Went to my buddy's repair shop. He used his "pro" reader. It called out front o2 sensor. R&r'd sensor with new. All works fine, no check engine light.

What was the code number you were getting to start with?
