    All,

Been battling a clunking coming from my steering column. I have done the zip tie mod.. rack bushings etc.. But this is different.. it's coming from the uppermost shaft in the column.. the shiny silver one in the belonw pic.. above the uppermost pinch bolt. It can move a few mm down and up.. And it's definitely the clunking.. as it gets different if I try to slide the upper intermediate shaft up in the spline yoke in the engine bay... any ideas? I tried scooting it down as someone has suggested . .. But that made the clunk less frequent.. anyone else have an issue with this part moving?

Edit... I can't move it by hand.. But it clunk when going over bumps..potholes.. etc.

Look at the top and make sure the snap ring is still in place

Mine is there.. but moves and wiggles.. is there a certain position that it needs to be in. Or if that's seperated and moves do I need to replace the entire assembly?

There is a groove it sits in and holds the shaft in position. Just so long as its in the groove you're good. If the ring moves up and down on the shaft or if the shaft moves in and out right here, its not in the groove
