I just did the Grey wire mod to my 2011 TRD OffRoad last night and it functions great. I did the mod with an added safety switch, instead of the relay. Everything functions perfectly, my only issue is that sometimes(not always) I get a check engine and service traction control light. Furthermore, when these lights come on, I can not activate Auto LSD(even when the differentials are not locked and the switch is deactivated) a while these lights are on. This will happen when I activate the switch and will stay on for a while even after deactivating the switch. I have not found any way of fixing the problem aside from waiting and letting it fix itself. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this problem?

i assume you mean the one wire locker mod. (old name for 1st gens was grey wire mod).

Yes what you describe happens exactly the same on my 2013 tacoma trd OR 4x4. It throws a code for front actuator not engaging (which is true). A quick clear code on my phone via a bluetooth obd adapter thats plugged in clears it and everything functions like normal.

Needless to say there is no way around it other than going full bore n doing the relay mod so you can engage the locker whenever you wish.
